I hear thinder and have a very stupid phobia of it?

I just heard a big crash and panic set in, hope it goes away soon, DP scared the shite out of me yesterday saying when there is lightening you have to unplug everything in the house or the stuff will blow up!!!

Is he lying or is that true?

Sorry am a big poo-bag

It's not true but it's not a lie either. Lightning did blow the electrics in our house once when I was a kid did wreck some of the appliances but that was one storm out of hundreds in where we stayed. So don't panic.

Not very helpful but I love thunder and lightning.

mama, the most important thing to switch off during a storm is your computer - if there is a power surge, its gonna fry your hard drive.

I empathise, i dont like thunder either.

it is best to unplug everything but I don't think it 'explodes', think the electronics can just be fried. Think we've lost a modem in the past.

I have never ever heard of this

My Mum's telly exploded (banged and stopped working)after a lightening strike.

I always unplug anyway. Might save a few pence!
