I seem to have got something riht for once
DD (13) is invited to a big camping/all night party. She voluntarily told me all about it, who was going, supervised by friends parents (who will probably just get pissed in a corner). I hummed and hawed and decided she'd be fine.
Just had a phone call from DDs mates mum. DDs mate told her I would also be going to this party, few people were invited, no booze, all sedate. In short lied about the whole thing because she thought her mum would disapprove and not let her go. DDs mate's mum does indeed disapprove, not trust her DD and now isn't letting her go because she lied to her.
I think this is the first thing I've done that matches up with 'what the book says'
- Trust your 13 yr old and she will tell you the truth
- Give your 13 yr old a bit of independence and she will behave herself.
- Don't trust your 13 yr old and she will not tell you the truth.
Am enjoying a smugly glow. Won't last I'm sure.
