I'd be furious - Data Protection and all that

pooka Fri 10-Oct-08 19:27:29

That is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. shock

Absolutely no way should your address have been given out.

Habbibu Fri 10-Oct-08 19:28:33

Against data protection, and bloody bad manners. Toddler group is not allowed to do this, so I'd definitely have a word with them. I'd be very miffed, esp as she sounds pretty bloody demanding.

MissisBoot Fri 10-Oct-08 19:28:53

YANBU - they can't just give out your personal details without your permission - make a complaint.

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil Fri 10-Oct-08 19:29:25

I'd be furious at them giving out my address - but also, what kind of person does this? Invites themselves unannounced and then is a complete pain in the a**e?

Sounds like you need to move house! Or have a quiet word with the toddler group and with her.

Poor you.

JacobsPrincessOfDarkness Fri 10-Oct-08 19:30:55

Sounds like you might have to move... wink

pushchair Fri 10-Oct-08 19:31:08

Sounds like a bit of a weirdo. Who in their right mind would do that? Toddler right off. You should query that.

soultaken Fri 10-Oct-08 19:31:24

Is this a wind-up?

bran Fri 10-Oct-08 19:32:54

Perhaps nobody gave your address out, perhaps she just looked it up in a quiet moment while tidying up. If she's a helper she would probably have access to any paperwork wouldn't she? A bit of a shock at her just turning up and inviting herself in.

If that was the case, bran, then toddlers need to tell people about the DP act, I think...

CaptainFabioHiltsTheCoolerCat Fri 10-Oct-08 19:34:31

Fucking hell.
I'd be furious - a)with toddlers and b) with her.
What a bitch!

I expect you won't be opening the door to her again, the loon.

POor dd"shutup"3 sad

People like that deliberately ignore hints.
I'm surprised it only took a shopping trip to shift her.
I'd've had a bazooka out.

please double check that it was toddler group who gave out your address though.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo Fri 10-Oct-08 19:35:15

I think she may be a baby-wipe short of a changing bag.

soultaken, hatrick has been on mn a long time and no, this isn't a wind up

Twiglett Fri 10-Oct-08 19:40:17

does anybody at all understand what the Data Protection Act is about? Anybody? At all?

it was out of order hatrick .. complain vociferously, please don't quote data protection though

lulumama Fri 10-Oct-08 19:40:34

are her children older? is she longing for a baby? she might be a teeny bit unhinged or just has no idea of social niceties

absolutely not on to give out your address. or for her to have access to it

who runs the group? who is accountable?

Mumi Fri 10-Oct-08 19:42:37

"I know I must sound mean and antisocial- I'm not I promise, I do like her"

She treats your DS like a cuddly toy, turns up at your house unannounced and snoops around uninvited, tells you she hates your DS's name and tells your DD3 to shut up...

...why do you like this person again?

LynetteScavo Fri 10-Oct-08 19:43:10

shock at this woman. She sounds like a stalker! You say you like her?

Did she really say she hated DS's name?

Twig, I think data protection does come into it, surely - the toddler group will be covered under the act, and are not allowed to pass on personal data without permission? I don't work in DP myself, but work with our DP/FoI chap - don't you think this would be covered?

SharpMolarBear Fri 10-Oct-08 19:45:50

She does sound a bit unhinged
Does she have a toddler of her own?

Mumi Fri 10-Oct-08 19:46:49

By the way Twiglett - as you're asking OP not to quote Data Protection Act, can you tell us why not?

Twiglett Fri 10-Oct-08 19:46:55

you're probably right habibu tbh but doesn't stop the 'man in the street' sounding like a twat when they complain based on the DPA
