Because I want to talk about fees, sibling discounts, tuck shop, lakes and acres.

Are you worried your thread might touch a working class thread?

Ah.

Does your school not have a Detox Counsellor for such situations?

Or maybe a dip in the lake would suffice to cleanse the Pleb Dust off.

Well in that case I want a separate topic for governesses.

Yanbu - then when I cross over to the other side all because my children only have a pond and not a lake at their school, I can hid the "state" topic, and never have to think about state education again.

Things we discuss at independent school gate:
Boden
Volvo XC90 versus Mercedes ML
Waitrose or M&S Simply Food
Best Ocado delivery slot
Tennis club fees
Salaries
Les Deux Alpes versus Courcheval
Bonuses
Waggamama's new menu
Multiyork sofa seat cushions - feather or foam?
Romania versus Poland (for cleaners not for holidays, obviously)
St Andrews versus Exeter (university)
Farrow & Ball paint colours
And that's it.

We never discuss anything outside these topics?

I would be happy to have an independent school section.

Why feather or foam? It's obviously feather
At the risk of being patronising...NOT ALL PARENTS WHO SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS HAVE OODLES OF CASH!
It also depends on the school re conversations I feel. That topic list sounds utterly chavvy...so maybe chav and non chav private school thread would be a good idea as well.

Ah, but actually doobydoo if you have feather seat cusions they can be awfully squashy. I like a mix in the seat ones and feather only in the back.

Things we discuss at the state school gates:

Special Brew v White Lightening

Who's bringing the baccy in from abroad

What we would like should someone happen to have it or be able to get it in a couple of days (new camera etc)

What doc'll sign the siccy without any hassle and get you on the disability.

er

that's it.

"Why feather or foam?" Well because as all you state school parents know, independent parents are not sentient beings. They don't have interests, or jobs, or personality or anything really.

No taste, no style, no conscience, no ideas, nothing. Apart from cash.

Not much of that either this year. YANBU as I would like to be amongst friends when I lament about resorting to prostitution to pay this year's school fees.

Nope, just would rather stick to teaching 2 days a week. But a 3kpcm mortgage+school fees+£100pcm gas bill+credit crunch are taking their toll.

Oh, and we are heartless.

And we aren't part of our communities, apparently.
