AIBU?

to pretend that power rangers are no longer on our telly

I am a bit of a libertarian when it comes to ds's telly and am v. sceptical about links between telly and real life violence. (we limit watching to 30min a day though)
I can see nothing at all redeeming in power rangers, the plot and moral message go way above his 3.6 year old head and all he gets is the kicks and guns.

YANBU, CBeebies mysteriously disappears from our tv from time to time and it's starting and finishing times vary enormously. We're not onto Power Rangers yet but I'm very anti-guns, violence, etc with boys - I know I'll be challenged on this when ds is old enough and he'll probably just make guns out of paper anyway.

I quite like power rangers - I think its the spandex! DS1 was delighted to hear that the 17 year old Brit guy at the olympics - think it was Tae Kwando (not sure how to spell it)was inspired to take up martial arts after watching Power Rangers.

I have banned some of the nasty ITV cartoons like Justice League and The Batman which are really quite dark and violent. There is a lot of humour in power rangers and my DCs don't take it seriously.

YANBU but may I ask what time it is shown? the tv guide doesn't distinguish the different cartoons and DS1 uses his limited tv ration to watch it.

Big Cook Little Cook have moved to Spain and won't be coming back. At least, that's what my children think. Mr Maker is thinking about moving there too, as is the cast of Balamory.

My DD3 loves them and watches all of them. It does seem to encourage abit of violence in the house but she needs to defend herslef against DD1 and DD2.

Its banned in our house too. I hate kids programmes like this. (but then again I banned DS watching the A Team back in the 80's as well)

I would ban it, not so much because of the violence (although that's bad enough) but because of all the OTT arm flailing and strange body movements that are used to make up for the fact that you can't see their faces. Instead of facial expressions to show emotions, they have a character stick their leg in the air or something.

Makes me quite glad that DS likes Spongebob, actually.

YANBU

our TV is often 'asleep' or 'poorly'for a day or two!

I hate powerrangers almost as much as I used to hate Pokemon (that was a truely terrible programme aimed purely at selling the frigging cards)

Changing the topic a bit, isn't a lot of the stuff on CBeebies a bit c**p ?? My DD (2.5) shouts "yucky, yucky" whenever Big Cook Little Cook comes on !! (and no, I don't have the TV on all day, but on weekend mornings it can be a life saver when I have been dragged out of bed...)

We love Louie and Pingu, and watch them on iPlayer.

BC LC is one of the better things on CBeebies imho. What about shite like Boogie Beebies. I really hate that.
