...to think that the orange segment handed to me on a plate along with the hot lemon-scented towel at the end of my meal in the local Indian restaurant should not have been previously sucked by a person unknown to me?

No.

Thought not.

Obviously, you're gonna have to give us more...come on, give us all the gory details..

cadelaide Mon 08-Sep-08 22:43:12

Well it was pretty straightforward really. Two orange quarters (peel-on) on a plate.....one plump and juicy and the other clearly, obviously sucked. You could see the teeth marks, FFS grin

It's the credit crunch. Times are hard.

They could have at least introduced the unknown person

Standards eh.

Overmydeadbody Mon 08-Sep-08 22:46:34

lol at cornsilk

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo Mon 08-Sep-08 22:46:53

lol.

It'd be funnier if they'd left their set of teeth in the segment too

cadelaide Mon 08-Sep-08 22:48:59

I'm a little ashamed to admit I did nothing. They are lovely people and it was a very quiet night and I just felt sorry for them. Like cornsilk said....times are hard! grin

They would probably have wanted to know though wouldn't they?....... that it had slipped through quality control I mean?

handlemecarefully Mon 08-Sep-08 22:50:33

Will you be going back there?

cadelaide Mon 08-Sep-08 22:54:15

Yes, we'll go back, and I shall just covertly lick the orange pieces, knowing that the extremely good-looking bloke on the corner table may well suck on them later.

handlemecarefully Mon 08-Sep-08 22:59:27

Saucy!

Reginaphilangy Mon 08-Sep-08 23:01:38

Ewww ...

PeaMcLean Mon 08-Sep-08 23:01:49

We recently had cucumber slices which had clearly been bitten.

I dread to think how common this is.

cadelaide Mon 08-Sep-08 23:03:14

Well I gues the government is urging us all to reduce food wastage.....

platypussy Mon 08-Sep-08 23:05:30

Apparently uneaten salad garnish is washed and re-used in some places. ( I know quite a few waitresses).

handlemecarefully Mon 08-Sep-08 23:10:04

I so don't want to know that platypussy!

PeaMcLean Mon 08-Sep-08 23:10:44

Gross! There has to be rules against that!

FabioBadAssCat Mon 08-Sep-08 23:12:32

yeuch

makes me think fondly of my lidl's catfud

but some oranges are like that, aren't they?
they've sprung a leak when still wrapped in their skin and gone all dry and wizened.

But yeuch.

hecate Tue 09-Sep-08 08:29:32

Yet another good reason to not eat the salad.

I thank you.
grin

MuthaHubbard Tue 09-Sep-08 16:48:15

platypussy is right - i used to be a waitress!

cheshirekitty Tue 09-Sep-08 19:04:05

My hubby used to destroy all salad garnish that was on his plate, ie rip petals off rose shaped garnish etc.

Now I know why.
