To want to hit my car with a big stick to punish it?

I have always been kind to it, regular servicing and big brand tyres and the ba**d thing has gone wrong and just cost £££££££££££££££ in a repair.

I am clearly deranged as I am taking it as a personal slight but when I think of the cars I have abused and neglected that have Served Me Well, without letting me down, I feel it is being passive aggressive.

I cannot even look at it without a sense of disgust.

AIBU to want to sell the sodding thing and buy a different one to this faithless creature?

I look at safety records and buy it lovely safe car seats - and this is how it repays me.

Good God I even wash it sometimes!

Fricking auto iPod spellcheck grr

RubyRioja Wed 03-Sep-08 15:08:58

I do accept this is not rational behaviour.
I could trade it in for a mini and not take the dds anywhere!

YANBU. I threaten mine with taking it to a cliff and pushing it off all the time. Like yours it is well looked after, it just delights in finding new problems to annoy me with just when I am starting to trust it again.

Hit it.

TheMadHouse Wed 03-Sep-08 15:23:42

Sof it - use the bike and make the DDs walk or get a little seat that sticks on for the youngest and make the older ones use their bikes.

Ours is in on Monday for large repair found when in for MOT. I think new cars are designed to keep guarages in business

Flog that car (flagelatte) I think?

WendyWeber Wed 03-Sep-08 15:25:58

Ah - washing it may be where you went wrong. Gives 'em a false sense of importance & superiority.

RubyRioja Wed 03-Sep-08 15:33:42

Ah yes - I need to establish who is the alpha being.

grouchyoscar Wed 03-Sep-08 15:50:02

And I thought I had problems losing my bus pass.

Hit it in a chastising way

Like this

YANBU ( although you should really give it 3 clear warnings first! lol)

Habbibu Wed 03-Sep-08 20:28:17

No, no - giving attention for this kind of behaviour just reinforces it. Just ignore, and then when it goes smoothly, lots of turtlewax and an oil change. Dr Tanya would agree.

Am considering making a reward chart for it now.
