Food poisoning takes a few hours to show up so it sounds as though the Chinese is the culprit. However, are you sure it wasn't just caused by the richness of the food? I suffer with IBS and chinese is a bugger for setting it off. Foo dpoisoning normally would last a longer than one instance of v/d. Personally, I would mention it to them, then speak to your local environmental health dept regardless of their response. They will do a site visit and if there's nothing wrong, they've nothing to fear.

You could take a sample of your poo to the docs who would tell you exactly what bug you had. Then you could tell trading standards who would go and test the food at the takeaway. If more people actually did this then a lot of illness could be prevented. I wouldn't though. Who wants to poo in a pot and then show their doctor?

Rather than getting your money back I would be getting a stool sample done and informing EH if it proves to be food poisoning.

Some types of foodpoisoning can hit very quickly, others take a good few days to hit so it might not have actually been them tbh.

Are you sure it's food poisoning? There is a rampanant sickness bug going round here in sussex. My poor mate had 24 people go down with it after a party she had. They thought it was food, till 3 people said they didn't eat anything. Now heard of others with the sickness bug

Obviously if it is food poisoning then no YANBU

Chinese food always does that to me, I think I must be allergic to something or other (msg or something, is that in it??) could that be it for you?

Oh, and you can try to get your money back, but unless you have a sample and want to get it tested, you'll have a hard time proving anything.

Did you save any of the food or is it rescuable from in the bin?

Food poisoning used to be a notifiable illness because tests (poo samples) are needed to isolate the bacteria responsible. I would contact NHS Direct if you intend on contacting Environmental Health. Put any left overs in the fridge. Without cultures all environmental health can do is have a look around.

Feel a lot better thank you but every so often get gripey pains. I called the Chinese earlier to make them aware and they offered me a free takeaway!

I dont feel like ever eating chinese again!

Didn't eat all day yesterday as did not feel better off it but in the evening managed a couple of minstrels purely for medicinal purposes you understand.
