So dd has just kicked off over brown bread --I told her that was the only bread in the house and I don't know why she has suddenly decided she dosen't like it.

As dp carried it in she ranbehind him and kicked him so I have sent her upstairs and told her she can't have anything until dinner around 3pm ,is this too long to make her go without or should I jsut keep giving her the sandwich when she says she is hungry.

What does she want to eat instead?

Well, she's six, so as long as she had a decent breakfast I'd make her wait - 3pm's not that far away.

She had cereal and fruit plus some driend cranberries earliar on .

I'm not giving her the choice of what she wants because I am not a cafe and then she will think she can just place her order every day .

That's fine - I do it with DS as, like you - I'm not a cafe. Get what you're given; I know you like it so eat it or not... your choice!

I'm with LewisFan, my kids will not dictate to me what they will and won't eat.

I would make her wait, I do this with mine, they've been crying before now, not through hunger, through not getting their own way. Thay have learnt this isnt a cafe.

Eat or go hungry. I know they like it they are being awkward.

My 6yr old ds ahs been going through a similar phase (well I hope that it's a phase!). Recently, if I provide something that in his opinion he does not like, he screams and makes such a fuss.

The other day, I had had enough and told him to leave the room and 'how dare he shout like that' at me. (i'm quite into the 'how dare' you atm). I said he could come back in when he decided to behave and eat his lunch.

Took about 10mins, with me asking a couple of times if he was ready to come back and be sensible. Then came into kitchen and ate everything without comment.

He did it again yesterday because he had tomato and couscous on his plate. only had to threaten him with leaving the room and he sat down and at EVERYTHING and asked for more couscous adn said he likes tomatoes now!!

I know some kids have genuine food phobias but I know mine just try it on. IMHO if he is not allergic to it, he should at least try it and be polite about it
