Or were you banging on the door of the Co-op next day for your sugar fix?

Nope never went cold turkey. But I went halfway and swapped the snickers and McCoy's for under 100 calorie alternatives - hifi, skinny whip and frazzles. Then I look forward to 2 treats every night (doing slimming world).

I have them from time to time but we'll eat them that day.I don't have chocolate sweets or cake in the house normally.I can't be trusted!

I'd love to never buy them again but the rest of the family wouldn't be impressed! I've just learnt to resist them with a no snack rule unless I'm really starving and it's hours until dinner.

I just don't have any self control! If it's in the house, I'll eat it. If it's not in the house the Co-op is open 7am-10pm. Bastard enablers! Grin

No. We always have them in the house but neither of us have particularly sweet tooth so a packet of biscuits can last over a month. DH has just finished a bar of chocolate he bought at Christmas.

We never have them in the house tbh. If we don't buy we don't eat

I find the trick is to have a phase 1 where you eat plenty of calories but all fresh unprocessed homecooked foods. That changes your taste buds and cravings, helps you practice having those things around, then gradually reduce the amounts.

I don't keep things like that in the house as a rule, I do buy them individually as a treat if I want one.

This is so tricky at the moment because usually I keto and find it easy as I’m out of the house all day but since lockdown and working from home 2m away from DPs snack cupboard I’ve totally fallen off the bandwagon.

He’s skinny as a twig and has a job which means he exercises for 12 hours a day so I’d feel mean denying him his much loved treats because I have no self control!

Yes, during lockdown.
So much easier to have self control when you are doing an online order and never seeing any sweet or junk foods in person.
But then I live alone, so it doesn't impact anyone else.

We don't buy any crisps chocolate or biscuits for in the house. Children have never known it to be available so don't miss it and husband and I don't believe in having that stiff as day today items do we don't want it in the house.

Sometimes I bake a cake or the children and I make biscuits so we will have them on odd ocassions, maybe an ice cream on a day out or a cake at a birthday party. They don't go without but in our family they are not part of our shipping so there is no temptation to munch on them none stop.

It's not really people who "don't believe in having that stuff in the house" that I'm looking for. My thread title was quite clear.

I rarely have junk in the house. Never buy it but have the odd box of chocolates that people bring when coming for supper.
I might buy crisps for if we have people coming for drinks but otherwise not.
We do sometimes have cake or scones that I or one of the children have made. I tend to drop the larger portion off to elderly neighbours so My husband doesn’t pig the entire thing.

When the children were young they had Saturday sweets but none other except Christmas or birthdays. Other treats were when on holiday or out. They’d have pudding, including ice cream as part of a meal.

We don’t have shops nearby and I shop mainly online for food so no real opportunity to buy after the order is done.

Yes went cold turkey at the beginning of lockdown. I used to think I have a sugar addiction or something but I just needed something like lockdown to take me out of my usual stressful routine. I haven't had sweets since March 17 except cake on my bday and then again on my boyfriend's bday. Nothing else and i don't miss it. No withdrawal or headaches. Have been struggling for years, tried to have just a little, replace with sweetener etc nothing worked. I was having at least a massive chocolate bar a day or 2 pieces of cake, my sugar intake was ridiculous.

Just give it up today!

TBH the idea of having none seems ultra depressing to me, even when I'm dieting. I grew up in a house where my Mum was always on a diet so we never had a lot of stuff like that in the house and it made me crave rubbish more. Its only as an adult that I have learnt to have stuff like that in the house and be comfortable with it, ie not eat it all at once. Dont get me wrong, I can go very overboard and I'm a bit heavier than I'd ike, although a healthy BMI, but the idea of no treats in the house sounds pretty miserable to me.

Perhaps I should have been clearer. One day quite a few years ago we decided not to have junk in the house. We stopped buying squash biscuits etc from that day on. Over 10 years ago and we have never gone back on it.

Grin @LaureBerthaud
I hear you
I try and do that thing of having a nice bar of dark chocolate just for me.
Sometimes it works but sometimes I end up scarring all the pringles and twix anyway.

I’ve lasted a few days / a week but I just really like it ... I try to not buy too much at once and I don’t like shopping at the moment so it’s easier not to buy more the next day. I imagine this will all fall down once shops are normal again though ...

Oh and dips. I think during lockdown I definitely got happiness from snacks.

Yes and no. I occasionally buy a cake, but it's rare.

No naughtiest in the cupboard at the moment, I have no willpower so it's the best option.

I'm the same with not being able to have crisps, biscuits or cake in the house. I just go through the lot in a ridiculously short time.

I agree with having filling unprocessed meals to start with. I stopped restocking our chocolate box at the beginning of lockdown, so if we want sweet treats we have to go to the effort of baking them. It's worked fine. But then the only shop we have locally is expensive and I hate spending money on snacks because they're nutritiously poor and usually have unrecyclable wrapping. So that mindset might've contributed to the success.

If I crave something sweet, I have a couple of dates. Knowing how expensive they are holds me back from taking more than a couple. Or toast and honey, or jam.

I wish the shops would charge £10 for a Twirl rather than £1 for two!
