So - I've seen that a campsite near our home is soft opening from 4th July - renting out the 4 bell tents it has in situ. The weekend slots have all gone - but I thought it would be really nice to get out of the city and spend some time in nature. T
he kids are 5, 7 and have worked really hard during lockdown. The 5 year old is now back in school but they are mirroring homelearning available on an app. 7 year stuck doing stuff with me while I work.
I've suggested we just take a Monday off so we can spend the Sunday night away in one of those tents as a treat. It would be nice to go while it is so quiet and we don't have to worry so much about SD with less people around. Husband is very anti the idea - saying that missing this day of school will be detrimental to the 5 year old and that having just got him back in why would we give it up. My thinking is that it is one day away, it'll be a nice treat, and they've done every single thing they've been asked of homeschooling so it's not a massive deal. It also feels like an opportunity we wouldn't usually have (the school is super hot on attendance).
AIBU? I really want to take them but i don't particularly want to have a massive argument about it.
