To ask when the next lockdown review is and are there still daily press conferences?

I thought legally, the government had to review lockdown every 3 weeks? I’m sure it’s been more than that now though? I read somewhere that Bojo was going to make an announcement re pubs today. But I guess I’m more talking about a formal ‘him addressing the nation’ press conference type thing?

Are there still daily briefings on the BBC (seems a bit excessive if so) and if not, will they be doing one for lockdown reviews?

Just seems like the majority of talk is about pubs, but I’m more interested in when we can start socialising in our homes and have family to stay etc.

Boris is announcing things in parliament today at lunchtime. They've dropped the weekend press briefings but they still happen Mon - Fri. Yesterday's was about shielding. I assume Boris will give the one today to answer questions after his statement.

Oh. My friend the other week didn’t even realise you could socialise with up to 6 people outside, I invited her over for a BBQ and she seemed very perplexed.

I just feel that communication has now gone a bit shit. Like I don’t think it’s that well known that the next review is on Thursday for instance. I didn’t know that, yet I have known when the others have been because it’s been well publicised. I wasn’t aware they’d made it every 4 weeks now.

I know it’s up to me to keep informed but I just don’t feel the information is as readily available and clear now, compared to what it was a couple of months ago.

When I google ‘next lockdown review uk’ for instance, it tells me BoJo is making an announcement today re pubs? But that’s not a lockdown review is it?

Where have you heard about socialising in houses? Have seen nothing about this and thought it would be last due to the high risks of being inside.

They’re on every weekday at 5pm. BBC, Sky etc all broadcast them. I’m unsure how you’ve missed this as then you’d know what’s been/going to be announced.

I'm pretty sure if they make changes today, they won't do a review on Thursday. I imagine that the law says it must be reviewed at least every four weeks and not every four weeks precisely.

The communication is the same as it has been since lockdown started. Briefing every day (albeit just changed to mon-fri)

I can understand how the information is getting a bit garbled, I stopped watching the daily briefings weeks ago after I got bored of the journalists asking the same pointless questions just designed to get them headlines. If you try googling exactly what has changed and when you get the same attention grabbing headlines and not much else. According to the papers, all anyone really cares about in England is when the bloody pubs are opening again.

Thank you Barefoot, that’s exactly what I mean. Life has got busier for me so I haven’t been able to catch the 5pm daily briefings but tbh, I also voted with my feet after the whole Dominic Cummings debacle where all of the journalists just seemed intent on pushing their own bloody agenda and focusing their questions entirely on that.

Also, I don’t remember the daily briefings ever giving any foresight into what was going to be relaxed and when, unless it was a BoJo ‘lockdown review.’ one, all the rest just trottted out daily statistics/ graphs and gave updates on vaccine trials etc so I don’t really get how continuing to watch the briefings each day would be beneficial.

hazysummers the other problem with the briefings is, it may concentrate on something that doesn't really concern me, like maybe people shielding or being furloughed, so I'm only half listening, and then I leave the room for a few minutes and miss the one thing I might actually be interested in.

Personally I think they should have stopped allowing journalists in weeks ago because they all have their own agenda which quite often is not the same one the general public has.
