Advice please cotton or linen bedding?

Posting on aibu for traffic.

I'm getting rid of all our current sheets and duvets which are all well over 10years old and in not so great shape.
Going to invest in 2 nice sets of bedding and want to go for either linen or cotton for both - what would everyone recommend?
I love some of the la reroute plain linen sets but not sure if they're good on a practical level.

Linen is lovely, but more expensive.

Cotton is lovely too - must be 100% and high thread count.

I'd buy one of each.

I’d go for cotton.
My linen one makes me too hot so I only use it in the depths of winter.

We have a linen/cotton mix set and it’s amazing. We also have some pure linen bedding, which is lovely.
Try H&M if you want linen. I bought one of their duvet covers a while ago and they were pretty reasonably priced for linen and it’s nice and cool and soft. Can I recommend combining linen bedding with a wool duvet? Brilliant for staying cool in summer and warm in winter.

I like linen because you can get away without ironing it as long as you get it out the machine at the optimum time to shake it out- the rumples look very eco chic! Cotton duvets always look awful without a crisp iron imho.

Ooooh I'm tempted with the linen now if it's ok without being ironed Grin

Smile yes definitely! Linen works for a certain type of look. Natural / Scandi type bedrooms, - there are lots of nice pictures on Pinterest of linen bedding styled bedrooms!

But it would not be the right choice if your home is more "luxury hotel chic" type vibe!

My house is nothing like a hotel style Grin

Natural darker cream carpets, light walls, light wooden furniture and a natural wooden bed so a more "natural" style.
