Have only recently discovered we are expecting again, complete shock as I thought I was starting to go through the menopause.
Have a scan on monday it's likely that I'm much further along than a few weeks possibly around 20, last pregnancy was complex so will be under a consultant throughout. My dilemma is dp is able to attend with me but due to lockdown and close family either shielding or working we would have nobody to watch dd(9). Ds is almost 13 and they are both pretty sensible. Would you leave them at home so that DP can come with me or do I need to put on my big girl pants and go alone?
My main worry about going alone is if there are any problems or bad news I would have no support and then have to drive home alone

Firstly, congratulations! I hope the scan does all go well.
I would leave them at home but it would depend on how long it takes to drive to hospital etc. More than 2-3 hrs I'd probably have concern about but depends on how well they get on generally.
Do you have a neighbour you can ask to keep an eye on them for you? If they have any issues they can ring a doorbell and stand in the garden.

I'd leave them at home if they're sensible.

How long do you think you'll be out? And do you have a neighbour they could call on in an emergency?

So long as your children at home have someone they can contact in an emergency. Friend, neighbour or relative who would respond if it was necessary or at least reassure over the phone and the kids know how to contact emergency help, then I would go for it.

At least with modern phones you can phone before you go in and if kept waiting your partner can call every half hour or so.

I would so long as they are happy with it.

Congratulations. I echo the past posters.

9 and 13 I would absolutely leave them.

Thank you that's reassuring. We only moved in 6 months ago so only on nodding terms with direct neighbour's I do however have friends who live 5 mins away if there was an absolute emergency.

Hospital is about 20 mins away so I would imagine we would be gone for approx 2 hours but of course checking in with them as often as we could. They do argue but never fight and I'm pretty sure they would stay in their rooms doing their own thing. Dd would definitely feel able to ask for help from ds if there was a problem.
Dp is more worried about leaving them than me but I think we'll all sit down tomorrow to talk it over

Just a note I had an ultrasound last week and was not allowed anyone else in with me, sorry but check with your hospital your husband might not be able to go in with you anyway.
