So for clarification I have never been majorly overweight but joined the gym 18 moths ago and have worked out 3 times a week. I am a typical menopausal woman, my only saving grace is i was pear shaped and now have bigger boobs. I am a lot more toned but still probably a 14 without the muffin top - what's your thoughts - my friend today said I/m at the higher end of my bmi - hers is a lot more - do i try and loose another stone or just keep toning up. Don't know my weight - but was estimate 12 stones just from cloths i can fit back into after about 4 years, but it's no major!

I'm the same height and size in clothes and I weigh 14 stone. I do have a fair amount of muscle, but got fat too and my legs are massive. Top size I can fit into a size 10 top, but bottoms are definitely 14, sometimes 16 depending on shop. Been trying to lose weight but it's not happening so just trying to tone and become fitter.

Working out is the best thing

Keep it up and maybe up it a bit?

I have kept very active during lockdown, and before, and my weight is the same but I am slimmer. Muffin top slowly going too

It feels good

Weight is not everything!

Eat sensibly, work out, stop worrying about the numbers on the scale and go with feeling fit, energetic and not flabby and you’re fine.

I guess the answer is what do you want to do? I'm 5 8, a size 14 and I love my body and clothes so don't see a problem. If you don't like something about yourself take action, but only because you want to.

I find clothes size doesn't make sense. I have been wearing size 14 but a generous fit and squeezing into some size 12's ( pretty uncomfortable at the moment.
)

I'm 5 ft 9" but trying to loose some weight too! To be toned with less fat is the best idea. Fat around your organs is not good and I can be a size nice 12-14 at 10 stone or a tight 12-14 at 11 1/2 stone. Also depend on the brand.

'Size 14' is meaningless.

What do you actually mean?

I can buy a size 14 in one shop that is approximately half the size of a size 14 in another. When I weighed 9 stone, I had size 14 clothes from Karen Millen. Now I weigh over 11 stone and still comfortably fit into a size 10 from Seasalt.

Do what you want. Are you happy with your weight and appearance, if so crack on as you are. If you’re not, loose weight.

Weigh yourself so you know for sure. I'm shorter than you, but at a size 14 I'm not in the healthy BMI band - I'm overweight although only just. I've lost 20lbs this year and fully intend to lose another stone, which would put me comfortably in the middle of the healthy weight band. I'm doing regular interval weight training and lots of walking, but the biggest factor is eating a high protein, low carb diet and logging everything I eat and drink.

I’m 5ft 10
Always been a 12-14 hovering around 12 and a half stone
I’ve been a stone lower but generally looked too thin

Have crept up to 13 stone over last few months and feel it everywhere!!!!
Getting on a diet for June to see what I can achieve over the month

I’m 40 next year and want to keep closer to 12 stone in the future

At 5'8", being 12 stone would put you in the 'overweight' BMI band (just). BMI isn't the be all and end all, but it is a reasonably good measure of whether you're at a healthy weight.

I'm 5'8" and 12 stone (put on a stone this year) and I definitely want to lose at least a stone, as I've really let myself go and never been this fat/heavy.

Clothes sizing is totally random.

Shops for younger people have a way smaller 14 than ones aimed at older ages.

Gym 3 times a week is great. Your friend sounds not very nice? TBH.
