AIBU?

To think this is definitely an allergic reaction?

I used to get my nails done with gels every 2 weeks or so and would occasionally do them myself at home using the same lamp and gel brand that my nail tech uses.

Last november, my hands broke out in these tiny, water filled spots and my fingers were itchy. My nails became soft and sore and I had to cut them all really short and regrow them, and they're all now nearly back to normal except my thumbnails which for some reason fell off.

My nail tech was convinced it was the gel and said I should try again with another brand, but I wasnt convinced. I always thought it was the lamp as the skin on my fingers and nail beds would burn, tingle and itch for days after having my nails done

This week, I got my nail lamp out and just did a test by putting my little finger on one hand under the lamp for 20 seconds with no gel on. The next day, rash is back on both hands and I have a large hive developing on the underside of my arm.

I've been reading up and it's apparently incredibly rare to become allergic to the nail lamps as there arent any allergens per se. Has anyone else had this and AIBU for thinking shes wrong and I.am def allergic to the lamp and not the gels?

Well if you had a reaction when you didn't use the gels then it can't be a reaction to the gels

Solar urticaria? Do you ever have problems with sunlight? Although it sounds more like contact dermatitis.
