AIBU?

To get rid of my partner over melted ice cream?

Half lightheartedly, half not...

I put 90% of the shopping away today but felt sick so asked my partner to take over. He left out the ice creams I'd bought myself as a treat and by the time I realised (when I got up to be sick) it was too late.

I know only it's ice cream, and shit happens, but he's not this careless over stuff he wants. He's also lazy around the house, which on reflection might be what I'm actually annoyed about.

So do I tell him to sleep on the sofa? Accidentally eat the chocolate he bought for himself? Seethe quietly in my own rage? Or pack his stuff?

I realise the mature answer is perhaps to accept mistakes happen and move on... the lack of ice cream is going to my head

Eat his chocolate and teach him a lesson

e. All of the above.

I'd send him back to the shop to buy replacement ice cream (although it's always the first thing I unpack and put away).

He should go and buy you more- should have done that before you even got up!

This is your real problem. It’s just a symptom of his laziness.

Are you pregnant? Why were you being sick?! Seems a bit odd to just randomly throw up unless you’re pregnant! (Awaits the onslaught of posters telling me their medical conditions that make them puke at random).

I wouldn’t end it over the ice cream, I would be seething and expect him to share his treats or go and get more ice cream...which my dh would. But he also pulls his weight when asked and would definitely put ice cream in the freezer...although he did just tell me he couldn’t carry the key lime pie upstairs to put in the fridge because he had a pair of boxers in one hand. I gave him a look and he took the pie. Mine is incapable of multitasking unless under specific instructions.

Annoying but not relationship ending in itself
But it sounds like he's lazy & inconsiderate and that is! This could be the final straw!!

Definitely hide/eat his chocolate and give him a stiff ignoring until he apologises - properly it's pack his bag if he really is a git.

Boil a kettle, put boiling water in jug and put his chocolate in it. Take it out after 10 minutes or so and stick it in the fridge.

Sounds like you're reaching the last straw. He'll become one of those ex's who are baffles when they tell the story of why they were dumped over something so small.

Did he know there was ice cream? Had it been left in a bag?

If he'd left it out on the side, therefore knowing you had bought ice cream yanbu. But if he hadn't realised yabu.

I remember my husband brought me ice lollies which I craved during my pregnancy. He left them out on the side and they melted

I had an absolute meltdown (pun intended). We’re talking massive hysteria and all sorts!
