Hi, this is my first aibu thread and I can't believe I'm having to post it, but I'm in need of opinions!
Dh and I have a 5 month old son. He's at work, I'm on maternity leave. It's really sad not being able to see family, but we're trundling along nicely, doing face time etc.
Dh's parents have been sort of flouting lockdown for a while by seeing his siblings and friends at their house and also visited other houses. Apparently it is OK because they 'sit 2 metres apart'... Today they asked if they could come over to see us, saying they'd sit 2 meters apart and 'Boris says we can meet up now'
I said no because on the government site it clearly states we're not supposed to be visiting other households yet, even in the garden. I said the only change is that 1 person can meet 1 person from another house, in an open public space, 2 metres apart (at least that's how I read it) Mil then said oh OK we can all meet up in a park?! But is it just me or that still missing the point, as we'd be a group of 5 even if we did try to distance?
I know it's hard, my parents are missing seeing us too, but they're of the same opinion of me; that, as frustrating as it is, we just need to ride it out and hope if everyone follows the guidance, the numbers will go the right way quicker.
I've told dh I think we should leave it until they say we can see family, then we can arrange to meet them without worrying. He hasn't outright disagreed, but I get the sense he thinks I'm being unreasonable / over the top.
Am I being unreasonable?? I honestly don't know to be honest!
