Selfishness of pregnant women

I work in maternity services providing ultrasound scans , this service is under pressure due to self isolating staff - this week a woman attended for an non essential examination which could have been delayed . She was questioned about her health as is routine now and denied any problems despite wearing a mask and gloves . She was reassured about our safety decontamination procedures as she expressed concern about entering a hospital . She later called our helpline to say she had symptoms which it was determined she had before attending the scan. This woman could have single handled taken out an entire department and infected other pregnant women . There is no excuse for this selfish behaviour Myself and my team are trying to maintain as normal a service as we possibly can . Ignoring guidance on isolating is irresponsible . I would urge pregnant women to think beyond their own baby and consider the harm they can do to the service by this behaviour .
