AIBU?

Wedding venue complaints, what are my options.

I’ve NC for this.
So I’m newly married and I held our wedding at a beautiful, reputable 4 star boutique hotel.
To cut a very long story short, the management at the hotel caused a lot of frustrations and trouble for us.
We have a list of very serious complaints, which include breach of contract and issues with then quality of the meal. The menu we agreed and trialled at our tasting was not what was served on the day. The main course was inedible, for all of the fish, meat, and veg/vegan dishes.

We have not been able to get any refund or a final bill to reflect all do the issues we had. We paid the full amount with a promise of the situation would be investigated and then a final bill being provided to us. There were many errors the hotel made on this bill which were quite shocking. A few months have passed and we’ve been fobbed off by the hotel and we have had no proper response.

New information has come to light today. The chef did not show up to work on time that day he was a few hours late (not sure how many yet) because he was hungover. It explains now why the food was so poor.

Given the long list of complaints, how m we continue to be be ignored, hearing this today is “the straw that broke the camels back”, so to speak. I’m quite upset and really feel they shouldn’t get away with it. It is not a cheap venue.

Realistically what are my options or rights here to seek redress? Or AIBU, completely wasting my time and should I just cut my losses and forget about it. DH wants to leave it, I just feel they shouldn’t get away with it.

Small claims

Solicitor

Have you left reviews yet?

Yes I left a review at the weekend.
I showed the review to the owner over a month ago and gave him another chance to sort it out.
He didn’t.
We posted it, it’s factual and not defamatory. But it would damage their reputation, given how badly we were treated. A manager responded, while he did not argue any of our examples, he did say that we had said for them to not contact us, which contradicts my review and is just not true.
The cap on the small claims court would merely give us what we are owed anyways, any other options?

Either leave negative (factual) reviews everywhere. Or take them to small claims court, especially if you have their promises in writing.

I would not want to let this go either. Much calmer DH would say the same as your DH.

What are you seeking to settle the matter?

The main course was inedible? As in every option and every person saying it was inedible (only bringing everyone into it as how would you know say as a meat eater what the veggie option was like?)
Sounds a bit vague and what you are thinking the meals should be like as you can;t speak for all the options from experience.

The cap on small claims is £10,000 would that not be enough to cover the cost of the food?

I don’t fully know @MarthasGinYard to be honest.
I would like a refund on the items we should not have has to pay for I guess.
But they spoilt so much for us and have caused so much distress and we’ve lost so much time, a refund doesn’t mean much, it doesn’t make things better.
But I don’t want them to get away with it, right now so far they are.

Ah, different small claims court then to the one I would be dealing with. Not UK!. @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. Mine has a fraction of that.

Vegan and vegetarian guests had to eat boiled potatoes and carrots as their meals tasted awful (or so I’m told).
The fish had sauce that tasted like a full lime was squeezed into it.
The meat was supposed to have a temperature cooked to order, instead it was cremated. Some ate then of course. Many complained.

Wotcha, the OP says they tasted the menu before the day, & it was not the same as was served on the day. So they had the opportunity to taste all the variations.

Sorry, it's late, I see what you mean about who ate what on the day. Ignore that post!

What country was it in. I don't think people can give you advice unless you tell them.
