To be completely and utterly shocked at Maxi Cosi

I had a car accident in August. We were hit from behind at 20mph. The car was written off and I sustained a back injury and had physio therapy sessions. We had two young children in the back, they were fine - but the garage who took away our car said we should get our car seats replaced. One seat was a Maxi Cosi -they advertise a car seat swap service if your seat is involved in an accident. They asked for a photo of the car, information about the speed/direction of the crash - and no other information. They said from this information the could determine that my car seat was safe and I could continue to use it. No info was asked as to the age/condition of the car seat prior to the crash - or whether I had noticed any faults. I continued to use the car seat for 2 months until my insurance company said any accident over 15 mph could cause a hairline crack and they would replace the car seat. I then looked at the advice given by my other car seat (Kiddy) and it said that any accident over 10mph I should send the car seat back for an inspection. AIBU to think that Maxi Cosi could not really know if my car seat was safe without a proper inspection and from the info I provided? I am escalating the complaint through the company, and they keep saying that they test their products to such a high standard / they can be 100 percent sure my car seat is safe. As I’ve escalated, sometimes they don’t respond at all and need a reminder to respond to my complaint. I’m also contacting Which?, Trading Standards and Watchdog over this issue.
