AIBU?

To be upset by this deceit?

I don't know if anyone else had seen on twitter, the Conservative party press account changing their name to appear as a fact checking service?

I can't read this except as out and out lying which seems extremely underhanded.

How are you surprised?
They get away with anything they want, somehow they are as unaccountable as they come and people are blinded to it.
This government are a mockery.

I suppose. I think growing up I really believed that there was some integrity left in politics. Successive Conservative governments have really destroyed that belief!

Maybe I am just super naive! Seems like such bottom of the barrel stuff tho.

It is.
Congratulations for waking up to it.

I just hope the rest of the electorate do also.

Yeah this was exceptionally scummy.

Smacks a little of desperation too (which is a bit odd given current polling).

What can you expect from a conservative? They can't teach Boris to lie with a straight face so they have to find another way of brainwashing the electorate. I really hope that the majority of votes are to intelligent to be taken in by these scumbags.

Twats. And here we are, just keeping on sucking it up. "Truth is important" lied Boris. I hope that breaks an election regulation and they'll be heavily censured and publicly shamed. As if. Still sniggering in Central Office at their clever wheeze.

And the ITV poll was 78% in favour of Corbyn(MSM is not reporting this) and the YouGov poll which put it at 51/49% was actually released ONE HOUR before the leaders debate started!

The Tory's are only interested in gaining power for their donors. They will do anything to stay in power. Bung the DUP a billion from the money tree. Stop the report into Russian interference whilst receiving hundreds of thousands of pounds from Russian business people. Cutting tax for the very highest earners whilst cutting services under the guise of austerity.

I have no idea why people would be surprised by their behaviour. They've never cared for the country, just lining the pockets of their donors.

I saw that on Twitter, that the 'Boris wins' poll was time stamped at 6.50pm!

Ffs.

How can it be legal to lie about a poll? The yougov thing is disgraceful. I know media can be biased but I didn't realise they would just out and out lie! Really eye opening.

And yet, the Tories still manage to remain ahead in the polls. Sigh. There really is no hope left for Britain.

oh wait, what! Dogs really? There was a poll favouring Labour? Maybe I despaired too soon.

I just looked at the You Gov website. Looks like anyone can join up to be polled. It's probably awash with Cummings and Cleverly's fervent paid for activists.

I too feel your pain.

I have woken up this morning feeling a mixture of shock, disgust and then outrage that this can be dressed up as anything but totally unacceptable.

Maybe as a kid I only got the headlines but I do remember a culture of people getting found out and then resigning over stuff like this.

Or maybe it is just my own naivety that I'm most disgusted by.

Also, I'd be genuinely interested in how tories feel (although I'm aware this isn't the best place to find them!).

I saw this yesterday about the weighting of the opinion polls. Weird way to manipulate the the statistics unless you wanted a particular result!

Yes, all over Today on Radio 4 all morning - hopefully will backfire. Probably, sadly, won't.

If Twitter is saying it is underhand and deceitful, why can’t they just suspend (all) the Tory party accounts.

With preschoolers this is how we teach accountability, honesty, integrity and respect for the rules. We all know the tories are spoilt little princes, so let them be reprimanded accordingly. Why are they getting away with it??

I would like to suspend all politics from SM because it is far too easy to spread lies on them. Look at our local FB page-it's definitely 6 of one half a dozen of the other.
However I know that's not possible.

However I would think an opinion pole showing one side winning easily when they're not could easily swing it the other way. Lazy voters thinking "we'll win anyway so I don't need to bother" and people who aren't really bothered voting against the tide to "show them", People who vote for the underdog etc.
I can't see it actually aiding a party to show them being well ahead.

I don't pay much attention to opinion polls. They had the Tories winning by a landslide majority in 2017 and that didn't happen. Also predicted that Hillary Clinton would win by a landslide.

This move by the Tories is a new low though.
