NC incase I out myself. Can't imagine many people are currently trapped in their kitchen by a wild bird.

Oh wise MN, help me figure it out?

Lived in our house 5 years and not had anything more than a slug get in then today 2 birds have got themselves in!

All widows/doors closed, loft hatch sealed and as far as I can see nothing disturbed on the fire places. How could they have gotten in?

I was lucky 1st time and a passing pcso helped but this time it's just me and my 2 useless house cats. The bird is safely shut in the back room but is flaps and freaks out if i go near it and as it's at the patio door I can't get close enough to let the bird out.
My cats aren't natural hunters, ones sitting in a box hiding from the bird the other is on my bed napping.

How I figure out how they got in or do I admit defeat and move now?

You need to get brave and just get the and open the patio doors, put on a big jacket and hood if it makes you feel better.

Can you not go round into the garden and open the doors from that side?

Walk very very slowly towards the door. If you give them enough time to get away from you they will do.

Keys are in the inside of the door, I think the cats had agitated the bird so even slow approaches resulted in flapping.

DH is home now and helped it out.... still can work out how 2 separate birds got in 🤷🏼‍♀️
