AIBU?

To ask my neighbour’s visitors not to park where they park?

I’ve read 2 threads in the past 2 mins on parking over driveways, so thought I’d add mine despite it not being ‘over’ my driveway!

Ndn has an elderly mother who has carers come round about 4/5 times a day. They park on the road outside ndn’s house. Everytime, they park just on the edge of my driveway. It’s not blocking my in but as our road is a narrow single lane it makes it an absolute ball ache to get out, I have to do about a hundred point turns (massive overreaction!) It’s really annoying!!!
Wibu to ask my ndn to ask the carers to move just a couple of feel forward?!

YANBU to politely ask but also they WNBU to refuse, if they are parked legally.

YABVU for not including a parking diagram. That is parking threads 101 OP!

You could speak nicely to them? Hopefully they'll understand.

Make a diagram! Post us the diagram!

Sounds one of those awkward situations.

So road is just wide enough for a car to pass a parked car, but you’d be really close if 2 cars were driving past eachother.

I think the reason the do it is because there’s a little alleyway (which belongs to ndn) down the side of our houses were the keysafe lock is kept, so they park there for ease

Sometimes they also park that close to my drive on the otherside, so outside my house. Luckily there’s never 2 at a time or I’d be stuck

Can you not reverse onto your drive making it easier to pull out ? They're parked legally

Ooo nice diagram!

Could you ask them to park outside your house instead? Not over the drive, but actually outside your house? Otherwise there’s nowhere else for them to actually park as they’d be on the junction if they went any higher up?

We had this with new neighbours opposite . I had a polite word with the owner, explained the difficulty for us accessing our drive and they now always park a few extra feet forward . I think most people are reasonable if you are nice about it .

Could do zippy but our drive is on a slant so when you open the boot (van style car) everything falls out 🙈

Speak to your neighbour and explain the problem.

It’s not a junction gruz it’s just a bend and then a junction. Opposite our houses is a field. There’s loads of space for them to park further up.

They're probably unaware that it's causing you problems. Ask them to leave you a bit more room and explain why.

Thanks, I just wasn’t sure whether IWBU to ask them

Ah okay, yeah I’d definitely ask them politely to park further up then. They’ve probably not realised that it’s causing you problems

As soon as they arrive pop you head out and ask if you are going out - they have such limited time that would be the best time to ask them

Ask your NDN to leave a note for the carers, explaining how the parking effects you.
They won't have any idea that they are causing any problem and I'm sure they'll be happy to move a little.
If they won't f- ind out which agency they work for, and give the office a call, and they'll make the request for you.
No one is going to think you're being unreasonable.

I get similar with a neighbours carers parking over my drive or in front of my gate (so I’d not be able to get the pram in/out - drive is opposite the house, gate goes straight onto road).
There is rarely anywhere else for them to park though, and there is 2 carers at a time, so 2 cars. So I just put up with it as they are usually only about 20 mins. So far haven’t blocked me in when I’ve needed to go anywhere.

Could they use the driveway of the client?
