Urinalysis results to push harder?

I've had side pain and an urgent need to pee for months, and I mean months.

Every time I go to the drs I do a urine sample and the results are the same.

Leukocytes +++
Ketones ++
Nitrates +++

I have strips at home and get the same results. I've had antibiotics 9 times and nothing has changed! The need to pee is insane. It's like I don't need to pee and then oh my word I'm going to pee myself

My gp doesn't think it's an issue at all, but antibiotics don't seem to help.

Should I try and push to see a different GP?

Ask for a referral to a urologist. Do you have private medical insurance via work? I had something similar years ago - seeing the urologist literally changed my life. If you don't and they won't refer definitely ask to see a different gp.

What antibiotics have you had and for how long?

I’d ask for a referral - they may be able to do CT scans or a cystoscope to see if they can find a reason. Do you feel unwell at all?

Unfortunately conventional urine testing is very unreliable. You really need a referral to a Urologist who will get your sample cultured even if looks ok on a strip.

Has your GP ever mentioned Fowler’s? Mostly affects young women and causes all the symptoms you’ve described. I’d push for a referral to a urologist.

Posted too soon. Meant to add that Fowler’s causes retention, so you might find it difficult to fully empty your bladder, is that the case for you?

@CaptainCabinets yes. Wow I'm going to ask for a referral

@thaegumathteth I've been on Nitrofruitoin and cipro

I did have trimethoprim but they don't really recommend that now so god knows why I had that

I have this, was diagnosed with an over sensitive bladder nerve. Oxybutinin helped somewhat.

I assume they have sent the sample to the lab and seen if it grows any organism and check for sensitivities to particular antibiotics. Sounds crazy to me that you have had 9 courses of antibiotics and not been referred yet

Contact Bladder Health UK. They're a registered charity on fb and are very helpful.
