AIBU?

What is it with all the tail gating b*@stards today!?

My journey home was like tail gating central! I was over taken on a busy main road by some twat in a massive black 4x4 after he'd been up my ass. It's not like i was driving snail pace slow, i was going 30-35mph and i can only go as fast as the people in front of me are going.

Then another twat in a big car decided i wasn't going fast enough so stayed up my backside. What makes these people think their journey is more important than mine? A**holes!

Rant over, feel better now.

Yeah, bloody mo-fo ing bastards! Have you got a baby-on-board sign in the back of your car? Does make a difference I've found.

Because they drive big cars! Just look at kids at nursery - "my car's bigger than yours, so I'm better than you,so you have to get out of my way" type thing. When it's adults doing it on roads it's just as childish and a whole lot more dangerous

No i have not got a sign in the car, does it really make lots of difference?

Yes, I definitely noticed whren I drove dh's car, he didn't have one and people got much closer. I got him one, and he has noticed people give him more space. Also, don't bother trying to race at lights etc. Which is funny, cos I always race at the lights! . Next time you're driving, see if you actually unconsciously stay back when you see a sign, I've noticed I do.

Or i could get a big spike on the back of my car! That would keep em' away!

Actually I drive a big car and make a very big point of not tailgating, because I am aware of how intimidating my vehicle might look if it was looming up behind you. I always leave a generous gap, but then I am bloody wonderful

Wish more drivers were like you HMC - bloody 4x4/big car drivers!! Thought I do like to get my revenge by never letting one out in front of me

I don't care what car it is, you should never tail gate. It doesn't make the person go any faster!

OR get a white focus/galaxy and paint yellow and red chequered stripes dwon the side and put a blue light on top.

Actually paolosgirl I am a 4x4 driver , but pride myself on being rather courteous on the roads

I always wanted to be an under cover cop or something cause it would give me great pleasure in stopping them for intimiding and dangerous driving

With boy racers, thing to do is v obviously look in your mirror at their number plate, whilst mouthing out the plate as if memorising it!

I had someone in a black BMW tailgating me on the way back from school a few weeks ago. He'd obviously decided that the 40mph speed limit didn't apply to him and then where the road widened because there was a junction (and also where the speed limit had dropped to 30mph), he decided to overtake. I had to laugh though because as he overtook me, he set off one of those light-up speed signs telling him to slow down. Not sure whether he took any notice though.

I just wonder though what the rush is? So the person going fast will get there 5 or 10 mins quicker, so what. With their recklass driving they put lives at risk all because they are impatient tossers.

I used to have an old landrover, which some people seemed to assume would never do the speed limit, even if it was actually doing so, and therefore deemed it mandatory to practically get a tow off the back. But - it had whopping big back fog lights wired to a switch on the dash - and I would take great delight in watching them stamp on the brakes when I flipped the switch on and off. Plus the big tow bar would have made a right mess of their cars without leaving much mark on my ancient landy!
