Sex for rent, preying on vulnerable women

Yes, that's pretty horrible. I have no problem with sex work, but sex in return for housing is a real issue. Having a roof over your head (in the realest sense of literally having somewhere to live) shouldn't be dependent on having sex with someone. I think any woman in this position would be very vulnerable to abuse. And I don't think any man with a healthy attitude towards women would offer this arrangement.

I didn't think that was legal in the UK?

@wellBeehivedWoman Could not agree more. It is so disturbing that he didn't once consider what kind of situation she could have been in.

YANBU to be disgusted, but I'm not sure it should be illegal (or no more than prostitution) because presumably the woman knows what the score is BEFORE she accepts and can therefore go elsewhere, the same as they could if they were going to be charged extortionately high rent. It's a price for the flat - one is in money, the other in sex. Some people might not have a problem with it (I would though). It's no different to prostitution - instead of cash they get a roof over their head. And it runs the same risks.
