To be annoyed about inconsiderate parking

I live just outside a small town and recently invested in a mobility scooter. Once or twice a week there is football games on in the playing field and people park on the pavement which means I can't get into town. I plan around this and wouldn't complain about it because if they parked completely on the road it would mean a relatively busy stretch of road would only be able to accommodate single file traffic.

Tonight I wanted to head into town to see a parade and go to the shop. There is no football on.
I checked along the road before I crossed. ONE car has parked for no apparent reason half on the pavement. There is a small layby a few feet behind them. Surely they could have parked there?
I had to turn round and go home.
I am definitely turning into a grumpy(er) old(ish) woman.

Small layby might've been already parked in when they got there?

You need a load of pre printed cards to slip under wipers telling them how inconsiderate they are

I did think that might be the case but it looked like they had just abandoned it in a hurry. So not only inconsiderate but shit parking too Grin
I'm just disappointed I didn't get to go where I wanted. It's frustrating.

It's a long straight road, so once I commit there is no space to turn around and no dropped/small kerbs where I could even venture onto the road if I'm feeling brave enough. I do like the idea of leaving them a note though.

Are there any dropped curbs you can go off and on? I know you shouldn’t have to, but being housebound because of a car, seems very unfortunate.

Sorry- juts seen the update- do you have to reverse back down it then as well? That’s pretty crappy. I’d be leaving little notes. People might not be aware and may modify their parking if hey knew.

Oh god, if I had to reverse back a long the pavement it'd take me about 3 days! Reverse goes at about 1mph only and beeps the whole way.
also I may end up falling off the pavement My reversing skills are only moderate.

Thinking I might post on our local Facebook page. Nothing too nippy, just making folks aware.

It may be worth bringing up the lack of dropped kerbs and inaccessibility of the road with the council as well. Seems really unfair you're having to plan getting out around the football matches.

Yeah, it's on my to do list to get in touch with the council. I already have to cross a dodgy bit of road, go up and down a couple of dodgy kerbs but don't want to be "that" woman who wants the earth moved (literally) so I can get to Sainsbury's unhindered so I've been procrastinating.
I'm getting braver and finding some slightly more suitable routes even though it takes me 25 mins to do a 10 min journey. I HAVE to go along one stretch of pavement....no other option.
A new small housing estates has been built on the other side of the road that I travel on. They have very narrow pavements plus dropped kerbs but on such a bad slope it makes it unsafe for a scooter or wheelchair.
Life isn't perfect.....and it could be a lot worse.....I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening
