Forwarding sensitive information in an email to a landlord AIBU

I started a new job recently, and am moving into a new flat this weekend.

My landlord has asked me for a reference from my employer, which I’ve had to ask HR for.

HR haven’t been able to write the reference yet, so I’ve asked the landlord if I could show him an email from my employer that confirms where I’m working. The landlord has said this would be fine.

The only problem is that the email is part of a chain of messages between me and my employer. Some of the emails in the chain contain sensitive information that I don’t want my landlord to know (salary details etc.)

Does anyone know how I can forward just one email in the chain to my landlord please?

I’m with Hotmail, and have looked on Google to see if I can forward just one email in a chain, but I don’t think it’s possible. Does anyone know if it’s possible please?

Thanks!

Click 'forward' then just delete all the bits you don't want to send.

Saying that, one of the thing they might want to know is your salary to see if you can afford the rent.

Just copy and paste the relevant bits.

Thanks Mairead and swing :)

I’ve logged into my email inbox on my phone, and I can’t seem to work out how to delete the information in the previous emails when I’m forwarding one of the emails in the chain.

Can you screenshot part of the emails that shows their details but not your salary info, and send that instead?

Print the relevant email, take a black marker to the bits you don’t want them to see, scan said email and attach to new email. Old fashioned but if tech isn’t working it does the trick!

Save the emails to your pc, open in word or some kind of pdf reader & mark out the sensitive parts

Why not ask your boss to send another email confirming relevant details?

Click forward then select and delete all the bits you don't want, just as you would in a Word document.
