Dear god Shock. It makes you wonder what they do in their own homes [another] Shock

Some years ago I was temping in an office which had the most fabulous kitchen - dishwasher, gorgeous cupboards & work surfaces, the works - and including high quality crockery. One afternoon I went in there to a scene of near devastation. So, I stacked the dishwasher properly, was just wiping down all the crud that they'd left and was just about to turn the dishwasher on when one of the permanent staff came in and said "why are you doing that? You're only a temp". I replied something along the lines of "I wouldn't leave my kitchen at home in that state and I have no idea why you lot do".

I love PA signs at work. I worked somewhere that had a load of them in the loo: instructions on flushing; on what could and couldn't go in the loo; to tell you to wash your hands; and another about drying your hands.

They got their money's worth out of the laminator, I can tell you Grin

I think you're lucky to have a dishwasher, no such luck at our place.

Report
Vitalogy · 15/03/2018 20:54

Could you just swill your own mug and ignore the dishwasher altogether.

MikeUniformMike · 15/03/2018 20:55

You need to put clear instructions up. In big bold capital letters.

If that is your bowl Qwertyuiopy I hope you are suitably ashamed Wink

Put one of those ‘your mum doesn’t work here’ signs up, I double dare you Grin (my conclusion from those is neither does the person who spends all day printing and laminating moany signs)

I have one mug which I wash up and take back to my desk.
I hate the politics of washing up and dishwashers. It does not fall on junior staff to wash up for others with huge egos.

Just wash your effing cups up !!!

At least three of those mugs are same as my work.in fact one is the very mug I own..
We don’t have a dishwasher just a sink of gloom with manky cups and hairy spoons

I put up a your mother doesn't work here sign in the stationary room. I got an official complaint put in about me unnecessarily aggressive, as well as upsetting Those with no mothers.Grin
Now I just safe through the empty boxes and plaster on the floor. It is up to ankle height now and there is no room for the stationary, as the shelves are fully of empty boxes

Ew lipstick the sink of doom is exactly why I avoid the staff kitchenette. The worst bit is the manky sponge that floats in the filthy water in the sink 🤮

Needs a notice - poster - email and meeting or lesson on how to stack a dishwasher!

Signs are passive aggressive. Either have the guts to speak up or jog on with your sign
I put signs, notes in the bin. They’re petty

Meh. When I first started the job, the bloke who was showing me the ropes, John, offered me a coffee. Some while later, I realised the teaspoons he used never left our kitchenette, but were wiped (streakily) on kitchen roll between uses. Envy

I'd take a picture every day and then put them framed around the kitchen - you might even win the Turner Prize.
