AIBU?

To think that tv manufacturers should sort their s**t out with regards to sound options (sound bar suggestions most welcome so that I can hear a voice rather than BOOM sound effects)

New tv and the sound is awful.

Any tips for a cheap new sound bar most welcome.

I would like to hear the dialogue and not the music booming through the speakers.

We can’t have anything that shakes the room as we live in a house with thin walls. I just want to hear what people are talking about Hmm

We have a Samsung sounder that was relatively cheap (I think around £110) and is gorgeous for watching films; the DCs can bluetooth music through it from their gadgets and the quality is very good for the price.

Thanks, Idont.

We have bought a Samsung tv so I’ll research sound bars in the Samsung range.

We got the Sky soundbox (stupidly overpriced if you don't have Sky Q but more affordable if you happen to have it) and I really rate it. I spent a lot of time telling DP we didn't need cinematic sound but I took it all back. It's fabulous.

Sorry - when I say cinematic sound it's not that it's loud or bassy. It's just given everything more... depth.

Look at your tv sound settings too. And flick through them until you find a sound you like.

The sonos sound bar is great, my brother has one, but was well over our budget. We got a Panasonic soundbase in the end and it’s very good for the £120 odd we paid for it. Currently £119 in John Lewis

Spangly & Freudian, I’ve tweaked the sound options until I can tweak no more. There’s hardly any scope for tweaking.

There is an equaliser but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. It doesn’t tell me what the lines on the equaliser are supposed to be adjusting either Sad

we got a Bose one for about £250 and it’s awesome. proper cinema sound and it’s only little. we have a sharp telly with sky and it all works beautifully.

I wish there was a way of muting the background music (racket) altogether so I could just hear the dialogue.

I need something that filters the background noise and has a happy medium with regards to dialogue. I don’t want to be constantly turning the tv up and down.

The problem is that we demand thin TVs with no space for decent speakers. Pretty much any sound bar will give you better sound.

Our last tv had a ‘clear voice’ option!

New 4K tv has no such option.
