Exercising with baby monitor

Hi. I have a house with a garage at the end of the driveway next to the house. I have a two year old. I work full time and rarely get time to exercise. I have access to fitness equipment in the garage. Would it be unreasonable to lock the house, take the baby monitor and exercise in the garage in the evening. The monitor is a video one and is very sensitive. I'm coming down on the side of not doing it but some people I've asked think it's fine.

Do you mean while your lo is sleeping? If so I think that's fine. No different to being in the garden while he/she sleeps which I've done many times.

Yes whilst sleeping. I suppose that's true. If it was a different room in the house I wouldn't think anything of it - it's just the act of locking the house up that makes me feel a bit weird about it.
Thanks

No different to being on another part of the house with the monitor.

It's not like you are going for 6 mile run with it strapped to your belt!

I would. However on similar threads the consensus always seems to be you shouldn’t in case of a fire.
As long as the monitor is reliable and in range I think it’s absolutely fine.

Don't see any problem whatsoever.

It's absolutely fine. Have the key handy, check all ovens, gas fires, candles, plug sockets are switched off. Enjoy your workout.

I wouldn't but I'm fucking weird I barely leave her in the room alone so don't listen on the other hand my sister would

I train in the garage at the end of the garden with monitor when kids sleep. I have eight in the house too. Presuming your driveway is short and you take reasonable precautions I don’t see the issue.

Typo alert - “Eight in the house” - I certainly don’t have eight - thank god! It should read “sight on the house”..

Why do you lock your house if you are just outside? Are you in a dangerous neighborhood? Are you afraid your dc will escape?

No problem at all as far as I’m concerned. I ride my horses in the evenings with DC asleep. The arena is next to their window. I can see through their windows every time I go past.

Thanks so much, I'm obviously being a bit overprotective. I'm starting tomorrow.

I did think eight in the house was a lot!!

I love the idea of having an arena in the garden - life goals!

Maybe gets video monitor so it’s more obvious if it cuts out? My audio monitor has cut out on occasion without doing its bleeping warning thing - only knew because I could hear the twins crying through the ceiling!

Two year old - too small in imo though I can see I'm against the grain here. Of course it's not like being in another room in your house - if a fire started and you're in the living room you run upstairs, grab child and leave. If you're in a garage you open door (is it locked too?) run down drive, use keys to open front door, run up stairs grab child and leave. Hopefully. Will the video monitor pick up on a smoke alarm? You certainly can't smell the smoke.
