AIBU?

To wonder why "Christmas parties" turn everyone into teenagers?

Fb is filling up with everyone's hilarious stories of getting utterly paralytic, throwing up in cabs / on strangers, behaving inappropriately with colleagues....

What is this? I get it when you're an 18 year old with no idea how to handle your booze properly, but what makes adults in their 30s and 40s act like this? I don't get it.

Admittedly some of it can be fun but not the throwing up or kissing your boss behind your dh back, I think some people have never grown up and at a Christmas party they can you know blame it on the alcohol

They just use alcohol and Christmas as the excuse to behave badly. People at my work often get arrested and then obviously fired. Not sure a night out is worth that.

In my experience the people who go overboard and make twats of themselves are those who don't actually go out very often. People with a reasonably active social life all year round are more likely to see it as an extension of work, rather than a Big Night Out, and as a result be more restrained. It's the difference between "omg I'm going OUT OUT!" and "so I'm spending Friday night with my boss Hmm"
