Moan really. I'm desperately trying to buy my mum a fridge and freezer for her small kitchen, all she wants is a frost free/auto defrost freezer but can I get one small enough to fit? No! They are all too wide. She's happy to pay a few hundred but no one caters for those living alone. Arghhhh

I got a small frost free fridge freezer from Littlewoods I think. It was a Bush. Just put the measurements into google. Took a while to find but they’re defiantly out there. Good luck

List's its the width, needs to be under 53cm, there are some available at 50cm, but basic models, my mum is disabled so wanted a auto defrost model to help her.

It's got nothing to do with larger families

Standard kitchen cupboards are 600mm, 300mm and 1000mm so appliances are in line with that

Smaller ones have less space for extra features so tend to be more basic.

I'd say it's more to do with standard kitchen unit size than family size. A standard kitchen unit is 60cm so most appliances like fridges, ovens, dishwashers are built to fit that width.

Tbh any of my frost free were more hassle...I went back to a traditional defrost yourself...

Auto defrost?

I just defrost by putting the stuff in a bag, putting it out the back on a snowy or frosty day and turning the thing off and shoving a few towels in. Come back a few hours later, remove towels and bung frozen stuff back in. No more problematic than filling it in the first place.

Yes try beko. Ours is smaller than standard and has auto defrost and is a beko.
