to go to the doctors?

Ok sorry for being a melter!! To some people the symptoms might be clearly enough reason to go to the doctors with, but for some reason I’m absolutely petrified of wasting their time!!

  • persistent cough lasting about 3 weeks now, has been chesty but usually dry (and is dry at present)
  • before and after coughing have to take a deep breath of air in and can feel/ hear wheezing when i do this, if i suppress the coughs i feel like i can’t breathe and haven’t been able to sleep for this reason (this is my main concern and also beginning to wonder if it’s linked to the mold spores in my bathroom in my flat that i’m not long moved into)
  • past few days have started getting a pain in my lower back each time i cough
  • have had runny nose/ croaky voice/ sore throat the standard cold shit throughout this 3 weeks on and off

They won’t tell me to take some paracetamol and get on with it or will they??

I’m 18 and have no other physical health problems just to clarify

Thanks in advance 🙈

Go to the GP. You clearly need it. You could have a chest infection/pneumonia. I get irritated with people who rush out to gp for a sniffle but you clearly have much more than a sniffle. Please make an appointment tomorrow , and make it an urgent one as in don’t let them fob you off for one in 3 weeks time

You won't be wasting their time! I went with a persistent cough that turned out to be asthma, I also suffer from post nasal drip from problems with my sinuses and that causes a cough too. It could be any number of things, a waste of time isn't one though. Please do go

Ok, thanks guys for your reassurance! My surgery has walk-ins tomorrow morning. Been meaning to go a few times last week and it just didn’t happen, but hopefully will bite the bullet tomorrow.. Blush don’t know why i overthink so much!
