Wibu to ask dd and her dh to come home now when I said I’d stay till 12? My cold has got worse, the log burner is nearly out, I have a sore throat and just want to go home which will be a 20 minute drive.
The kids are fast asleep and dd and dsil are at a birthday meal for a friend in a local pub.

You can ask but you did say you would stay until 12 so they may not be back immediately.

Could you just sleep on the couch until they get home?

Oh to drive 20 mins that late in such a state may not be safe. Maybe text them and just ask if it is at all possible to come back slightly earlier?

It’s a cold. You’ll be okay. Put some more wood on the woodburner or wrap up in a blanket. Make a hot drink.

I will wait. They don’t often go out and I know they’d come if I asked. I just feel rotten and a bit sorry for myself 🙁

No more wood in house but I have a blanket. I don’t want to sleep as I’ll feel worse when I wake up. I have to go home as dh will worry and he has been ill too.

It would be a shame to cut their night short but if you are ill then they would completely understand.

Did they know you were ill when they went out?

Have a rootle in your bag for a pair of paracetamol, or in their meds cabinet? Poor you, no fun being chilly with a cold.

Do they have a spare room and you could just take yourself to bed after texting your dh of the plan?

Make yourself some tea and warm your hands round the mug.

Text your DH and go to bed at their house?

Could you warm up by having a bath in the guest bathroom? Surely they won’t mind that if you make sure you left it as you found it and it might make you feel better!

My dh is 81 and has no mobile. Once he removes his hearing aid he won’t hear the landline. Thanks everyone I have found a Lemsip in the med chest. They knew I had a cold but
I wasn’t so bad when they left. I’m not going to bother them now they won’t be much longer.

Lemsip will do the trick. I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Could you message them to see if there's more wood for the burner anywhere and ask them when they are planning to come home as the burner is low and it's getting cold because you can't find any more wood? We used to have a logburner and it was very rare that we'd let it get to the point of having no wood either in the house or the shed available ... especially getting into November!

Or if you're close family I'd just grab a duvet/blankets on the sofa and then see how you feel when they come home, and if you don't feel OK to drive then just ask if they mind you crashing on the sofa or in the spare room (if they have one) .

Thanks Donkey ❤️
We are very close indeed . In the end I texted and they came straight home. If it hadn’t been for dh I might have stayed but even so there isn’t a spare room. Anyway I am home in bed and keep waking up, nose running like a tap, coughing and aching. Dh just brought me another lemsip. Gosh I feel wretched 🙁
