AIBU?

To not want to use a local service to clean my sofa?

Because it's in such a state I'm actually mortified Blush

It's a light fabric/upholstered sofa although it's now several shades darker than it's supposed to be.
We've got a toddler and a dog and a tiny house. We've also recently had messy renovations done.
And I can't count the amount of times milk and other things have been spilt down it and never been able to clean them properly.

I'm currently sorting the house and wanted to book someone in to clean and sanitise it, and I've bought some lovely throws I will use as covers from now on to minimise mess and keep them as clean as possible.
But now I'm worried about what they will think of me when they see how bad it is and I'm reluctant to use a local company just in case I risk bumping into them in the street in the future.

AIBU? Is it a stupid anxiety thing? Will a professional cleaner judge me?

My head says yabu it's their job but my heat says I'd be exactly the same

It is not an anxiety thing, its a pride thing!

Don't worry they will have seen worse!

It’s what they do for a job, you can bet they have seen worse much worse.

Yabu, just get them booked.

Weirdly, if I worked for a company like that I'd prefer to do sofas that were properly dirty. Then when I got them clean I'd love the difference it made.

I had someone in to do carpets and he did the arms of the sofas as well which weee absolutely disgusting. He was actually really clear that there’s no judging, things get dirty and hard to clean.

Definitively do it, you’ll be amazed at how much better it looks once done.

God, totally get it done. They will love the difference it makes.

Depends how bad it is but it might not come much less stained - my friend had a cream sofa done which was pretty grubby and although it was cleaner it wasn't much less stained.

I cannot tell you how often I bump into the nurse who does my smear test/coil fitting in the supermarket (small town). You'll get over it. It's their job and as long as they get paid they won't care. Going into a total hovel would be different, but they'll see from your house that your sofa has just had the standard kid/pet abuse.

Dear I hope you're all right!

It's generally dirty and grubby with a few spillage marks and stains (they are hard to see at a first glance due to the colour of the sofa and textured fabric but once you have a proper look it's quite grim).
I think the worst bit is under one of the cushions ..... I think there was some milk spilt once, I attempted to clean it up but obviously didn't to a good enough job, I recently turned the bottom cushion to see a greeny almost mouldy stain

I could cry. I swear I'm not that terrible BlushSad
