To throw cheese at him until he tells me how to work the TV?

Obviously lighthearted. But I've stayed on a friends couch, and just woken up after clearly one toof many beers. Friend is in bed. I have a bitching sore throat. Should be a case of stick the telly in and buy him breakfast in the morning... jobs a good un!

Except I'm sat here unable to work his TV. Grin I'm not drunk or stupid actually maybe and I've looked at all plugs/connectors/switches. I just know he's gonna waltz in tomorow and do it in one SO OBVIOUS BUTTON. Please find said button for me Grin

Checked all sides and along top for on /off button?
Our Panasonic’s button is on the front along the bottom, sort of hidden in plain sight (my 70yo Mom can never find it!)

Ooh I have a similar telly in my spare room. It has an on/off switch underneath. Once that's on you have to press any of the buttons on the side to make it actually come on. Most guests have had to ask how to make it work. Have you tried that sort of thing?

I've pressed the on/off switch on the monitor... though that must have been it and so disappointed when sod all happened Grin

The thing that's getting me is despite all the plug and button switching, I can't get a standby light to come on! No matter what I do!

You need to feel the Tv. After you have checked it's actually switched on at the mains, feel the edging around the screen if there's something there it will switch off. If nothing, feel along the edge. Nothing there put your fingers on the back and feel.

Before groping the Tv try the on button on the remote.
My tv has no buttons, I have to grope it to switch on, or use the control.

I have just run my hands along the bottom and can't find anything. Got my hopes up for a bit haha Sad

The power cord on mine actually has to be plugged into the tv and into the wall. Has it come loose? Mine does if you breathe near it... double checked the plug socket is actually on? Grin

If nothing else works, either google the model or go and shout at the friend 'how the fuck do I switch your tv on'

Ooh, this is getting a bit like who wants to be a millionaire. Grin

I'm starting to think this was tactical.... I take the access to the TV... you end up in my bed. Kidding obviously but I'm shocked in 2017 I can't work a TV!!

Can you not see any controllers? I was thinking switch on & off at the wall & let the controllers work their magic.

No controllers. I've now managed to have a snooze for an hour and woken up having a coughing fit Grin surely now is an appropriate time to wake him and let him go back to sleep? ?

Hasn't he left the control for the Tv?
Are you sure it actually works and not a staged TV? Maybe this is the new stage pineapple Shock

The man is no fool.
He obviously wanted to make sure that he wasn't woken by the TV at 3am!
