AIBU?

to be disappointed in PureGym? MLM related.

I've been going since May and it has helped me lose 2.5 stone, been very happy with it up until...

Walked in tonight to be faced with a Forever Living stand. According to the manager, it's not promoted by the gym or endorsed by them, they have simply allowed a normal gym member to stand and peddle her crap in their reception.

AIBU to be disappointed that the gym are complicit in targeting vulnerable people and that at the very least they are not making it clear they do not endorse the products or business model?

Thanks!

Crikey! Usually MLM gets a lot of interest on here!

Why are the people at your gym particularly vulnerable? Just walk past? Not sure it’s that big a deal to be honest.

Maybe they don’t know much about it?

Tbh if I had an issue with it I’d email the gym. If I didn’t then I would just walk past and forget about it.

I understand OP but I do think you have to assume people have at least a little sense! Forever Living is snake oil shit for the hard of thinking but it's not illegal - unfortunately.

I'm amazed you've actually found someone selling the stuff. Normally all they care about is signing you up to their 'team'.

I've no reason to think anyone who goes to my gym is particularly vulnerable.

I don't normally "just walk past" something which is wrong when I can do something about it. But maybe that's the difference between me and some other folk.

I have direct messaged the gym on Twitter.

As soon as people get chatting and realise how expensive it is and they are expected to join too, hopefully people will jog on.

This would be the same Pure Gym chain that still email me on a regular basis begging me to come back, despite me cancelling my membership two and a half years ago as I was moving and my nearest branch is now 65 miles away. And despite me emailing them several times to inform them? I doubt they will care if you email them.

TBH OP I’d be surprised if PureGym head offices would be happy that FL is set up in one of their gyms because it would give off a sense of endorsement I guess. Wonder if the gym manager is getting a little back hander? Or various tea samples or whatever snake oil they sell
