without telling anyone?

I am morbidly obese and am really trying to lose weight through changing my diet and activity levels. I am already quite active (I coach 3 different sports) but clearly I need to do more.

In the past, when I have done something like this, I have told people what I am working on, and more times than I can count, I have screwed it up.

I end up letting myself down again, and essentially telling the world around me that I have no self control.

So this time, am I being foolish not to tell anyone, so that it is only me that gets let down?

YANBU- whatever works best for you. If you feel that telling other people is too much pressure, then don't tell them. However, don't use the fact that others don't know as an excuse not to follow the program. You still need to be accountable, but to yourself rather than others. It is only when you do this that the weight will start to come off.
Good luck- it's hard but you can do it.

It is an online program, so I have daily reminders of what I am to do each day, and activity tracking to back up that I am doing what is supposed to be done.

I know how to make weight come off - it is the defeatist self-talk that I can't shake that seems to kick my arse every time...

OK, well don't put too much pressure on yourself in case you miss a day and then give up the whole programme. It can be good having the support of others to get some support. Having said that, people are different. My sister recently lost 40 lbs but didn't tell anyone she was doing it. She just started going for daily walks and eating less, but did not talk about it in terms of a 'diet'. That worked better for her in terms of having no pressure from others.
Remember as well that diet is even more important than activity, so think about downloading an app like my fitness pal to keep a track on calories.
