AIBU to ask why Tony Blair went from being fairly popular to being very unpopular?

I completely understand that factors such as the Iraq War have a huge part to play in why TB became unpopular, but would be interested to hear if there are also other reasons.

On a side-note, I'm quite impressed despite myself by the fact that he, as well as Alastair Campbell, is still in the media so muxh, despite the fact that they are so unpopular. The electorate and the media have lost a lot of respect for him and those close to him while he was in power, but we still can't seem to get enough of them in a way. It's odd Confused

I was 5 when TB came to power and 15 when he left government, so it's so interesting to come back to it all now and think about his time in power from an adult perspective and with hindsight.

Well, I never understood why he was so electable. First time, I can see why it happened. But after that??

To say he's a war criminal is crazy. Anything he did he did with the approval of both sides of the house.

Stealth why was the 'education education education' thing a bad idea? I understand that not everyone is suited to going to university, for example, but I think promoting education was a good idea.

There was so much good that came out of those Labour administrations. I think we forget a lot of that now and his legacy has become Iraq + earning shed loads of money from public speaking engagements.

He still keeps butting in with his opinions when he ought to shut up now.

I get the impression he promised and failed to deliver. I don't really know. That's not my opinion just what I picked up.

He presented them with a dodgy dossier of plagiarised information so he lied to get them to approve invading Iraq.

Have my very, very first biscuit - are you the Daily Mail as this seems the most infantile question [and I say that as someone who cannot bear TB]

There's not really any need for that baby. Why is it an infantile question?

Iraq war after a million marched in London.
Tuition fees.
Yes to following everything GWBush did to keep the 'special relationship' going.
Also owning loads of buy to rent properties around London.
I don't think his religion helped either.

He started a war.
He's a raging narcissist who won't shut the fuck up and go away.
He lied.
He governed only for the next days headlines. Truth was out. Spin was in. That has soiled all politics to this day.
He opened the immigration floodgates. No questions asked.
Nobody was allowed to say anything remotely unPC, sowing the seeds for rampant fundamentalism.
He did nothing for the traditional labour voting working classes.
They spent every cent we had.
How am I doing?
