To ask how on earth you work in an office successfully

I'd love to work in an office and feel positive. The last office I worked in, while I made lasting friendships with one or two people there was always an incident or two where I'd offend someone and I'd notice when I spoke people would be smiling to each other or rolling their eyes.

Maybe I am not the most perfect communicator but there's no maliciousness to me and I am not someone who Day to day upsets pellle or offends. It seems only in an office environment, I just don't do well.

I just don't seem to fit in. Even though I'm not an odd person or unpopular in life in general.

Anyone know how to work in an office and not offend or be the subject of ridicule?

I never ever gossip or complain about anyone. I always considered that would mean I was able to get on with everyone but obviously that is not the case.

there are always types in every office, including the queen bee and the shit stirrer. you will be the topic of bitchiness before it is the next person. let it wash over you op.

My strategy be friendly on a superficial level and don't get involved with gossip. Apart from the odd session at the pub I keep my working and social life separate.

I work from home as much as possible. It’s mainly older men in my office so in terms of gossip it’s non existent.

I never aim to make friends with anyone at work. I am to be polite, friendly, efficient and get my job done.

I work very hard, try to be helpful and keep it light. I don’t talk too much about my personal life, I don’t moan and I don’t complain. I don’t keep anything personal in my desk.

I don’t talk about politics, religion etc etc at work.

I have occasionally made proper friends at work but that’s not my aim.

My aim is to do my job very well and get on with everyone, even those I dislike.

If you are offending people everywhere you work you need to think about how you are perceived by others.
