AIBU?

Clumsy husband

My husband is a lovely guy and I love him loads. However he is so clumsy and is always breaking our stuff....

Today he managed to put too many clothes on our dd wardrobe rail so it collapsed. He had to put new holes in and I said that's fine providing it doesn't mark the outside. I even checked with him twice. Well he managed to put the nail all the way through by mistake so now the outside is all warped and cracked. I know it's only a material item but now I'm a sahm we don't have money to replace items and I wanted it nice for our next child.

Aibu for being annoyed? In the last couple of months he's managed to break 2 child locks on cupboard doors by yanking them. He's previously snapped off part of the freezer drawer, broken lights, damaged rugs etc. He's always been the same over the last 10 years. I just feel he doesn't respect me or our belongings. Aibu?

Just to add he always acts remorseful and says sorry but then he does something else!

If he's clumsy then don't ask him to do things. I've got a DH who has many qualities, but wielding a screwdriver isn't one of them. Either learn to do it your self, or get your dad, or brother round.

Being clumsy isn't a lack of respect.

Or get your mum or your sister round. I'm quite handy with a screwdriver Grin

What like open cupboards or hang clothes up? Just make him sit on the sofa and not move? What would be the point?

I get that it must be annoying: I'm extremely clumsy, break stuff all the time, and I'm sure it's annoying for DH.

But I'm not doing it on purpose. Some people just are very clumsy. It's nothing to do with respect for belongings or how careful I am, I'm just not well coordinated.

Do you think that could be the case here? Is he badly coordinated in general?

Yes he is generally clumsy.

My dad already does alot of the diy in our house (often fixing things my husband has broken!) but this time dh insisted he could do it.

The problem is he's too heavy handed and he often yanks cupboard doors etc. I just feel if he knows he has a tendency to break things surely he could be more careful?
