Ex DH putting the kids on YouTube

Ex DH has a YouTube around 7.5k subscribers and does like family type videos. The kids are frequently on there and I hate it. Is there anything I can do?

Hmm, I'm not sure what the legal stipulations are in a case like this as I'm not an expert. I'd have thought though if you're the parent and have parental responsibility then you'd certainly have a say!

I said 7.5k subs so around 7500. It may not seem like loads but I don't want that many strangers watching my kids.

Not if he's not endangering them. You won't be able to do anything. If they get older and don't want to do it, that's different and they will discuss it with him directly. But, if they're happy, you'll have to leave it.

He's doing them a huge disservice - I wouldn't like it either

DD currently has a stalker - who puts stuff on her photos - long story but it's upsetting and unpleasant

As him if he would pop round to a strangers house to show them a cute video of the kids? Because that's what he's doing

I've also seen teens text these videos round school and they become a laughing stock

It's cruel and unnecessary- keep them for grandparents and people who love and respect them

That being said, if I were you I wouldn't like it either. The internet can be an extremely volatile place, and I don't agree with the rampant personal publicity people do these days. Or maybe I'm just a very private person!

Is he trying to make it as a social media personality? He'll be getting paid, click per view. It's very lucrative especially if you go into an advertising partnership programme.

I'd like to pretend I understand it, I don't , but two of my children make a fortune from YouTube and did so whilst at school.

It's not really any different to up loading 'live' on FB, or indeed putting any photo/video on FB. Unless they are abusive or humiliating, then no judge in the land is going to tell you that you cant have family pictures - and your words were "family type videos"

I think they are trying to change the law on kids being online as under the age of consent Immaterial. It isn't law. Frankly the way things are at the moment, the Government has bigger fish to fry than family clips or stopping sub 18's having social media (I'd like to see that put into action).
