I love music, I love dancing and being with friends.

But I'd hate being at such a busy festival.
The crowds and lack of clean facilities would make me miserable. I have been to other festival in my youth and just couldn't quite relax, whilst friends were having the time of their lives.

Even as a skinny teenager I would have felt self conscious and exposed walking around in a bikini at a festival.

How come they seem all relaxed?

I am gutted I am not sat glasto this year :-( It is always nice weather when I don't get tickets.

The crazy stuff that goes on in the theater field.
The food.
Your friends.
The hedonistic sense of being in another world for a few days.

We always pay for off site showers, go for a shower and a poo in clean toilets every morning. Takes ages to walk to them but so worth it.

Also take she wee for weeing the rest of the time.

I like camping I go to scout jamborees with thousands of guides and scouts and leaders/staff. I have no desire to go to a festival and have my tent peed on, vomited on, "broken" into, trampled, etc I'm far too old and grumpy to be amused by drunken louts. Give me the orderly rows of scout tents, curfew of 11pm and feeling myself and my belongs are safe any day!

I watch the Glastonbury coverage every year and think 'I want to go' then I look at the campsite and just know that I'd end up feeling totally claustrophobic surrounded by all the tents so close together.
I'd be there like a shot if I could afford to stay in the posh bit with a bit of space, it always looks brilliant!

You just described Worthy View - those are the pre erected tents in nice rows :-)

Which posh bit? There are SUPER posh bits for like £several k, also worthy view which has showers and pre erected tents or there are off site posher camping.

Personally I like central camping but with access to offsite showers cos I don't cope without a shower, but if I get tickets next year I will do worthy view as a nice middle ground.

The 'theatre field' or 'lost vagueness' or whatever it's called looks like the fifth circle of hell. Full of solicitors pretending to be cool for a weekend. Unbearable.

I'd probably loathe Glastonbury with its aching hipster rent-a-crowd. Are they still wearing denim shorts and straw hats like it's uniform?

I go to Cambridge Folkie every year which has clean flushing toilets and hot showers. I used to go to Reading but I'm too curmudgeonly for that lark.

I've been several times, first time was 1985 (I think), last time was 2010. I've stopped now. It's too big, it takes aaages to walk across the site, you can be walking for what feels like hours. The crush of the crowds in some locations is too much. When it rains there is no shelter, and when it's hot there is no shade. Camping is far too crowded. It is a bit of a white privileged monoculture.

That said, it does have awesome elements that are just not present anywhere else. The sheer atmosphere when you get a great act on. The great kids field, the green fields and the crazy anarcho fields - Block 9 and Arcadia are incredible. The friendliness.

Aah but I'm too old for it now. The knees can't cope with the camping.

I went to my first festival 2 weeks ago and it was fab.

It's like if you've ever done Duke of Edinburgh, it can be a tough slog but you're all in it together.

Also drugs. They help a lot.

First time I went I'd heard it was potentially muddy so wore my gardening clothes.
Not realising it's a dress up shindig.
I once read an interview with the nauseating Sadie frost where she was having a trauma because she only decided to go at the last minute and all her friends "already had their looks worked out"🙄

I go to the smaller ones with less "big name" type music. Last one was about 5,000 people over 3 days.

Nothing better than pitching up for a few days, wandering around in odd costumes and clothes, getting smashed in the sun and dancing to bands.

I have discovered so many new bands by going to festivals, and made lots of friends.

It's my idea of heaven!

@LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle they are soooooo muc hless hassel (less walking, space for tents etC) but they just don't get me the same way that Shangri-La, Block 9 etc do at Glasto.

Can't wait to watch Radiohead from the comfort of my sofa. Seen them live 11 times already but no longer have the patience for gigs and festivals.

Been a few times, it's mostly the camping I can't cope with anymore, and the noise 24hrs a day. Also can't stand the way you have to pay £200 for a ticket and only later do you get to find out who is headlining. And when you do, you realise it was a band who you would have liked to have seen about 10-15 years ago but aren't so bothered about anymore.

I'm here now and have mixed feelings on it. I've been every year for the past 5 years just for my husband who is obsessed with it.

I've always been more "take it or leave it" so to speak, I kind of enjoy it but it's bloody hard work, too much trudging around, either too hot or too cold or too wet and there are only usually 2 or 3 bands I want to see.

This year I'm not feeling it at all. All the pretentious posh kids walking about in their denim shorts uniform, all the attention seeking, showing off, people drunk by lunch time, rip off prices for food and drink ...

Put it this way, if me and DH ever split up, I'd never step foot here again.?

Ah I love Glastonbury. Currently have a 16 month old though so no way would I go. I'd like to go again when he's either old enough to come and enjoy it or be left elsewhere for the week. I'm a big fan of semi posh camping at worthy view. The atmosphere is like nowhere else I've ever been, for me it's not to do with the headliners, but all the random stuff you stumble across.
