AIBU?

To get grumpy when I'm tired?

My husband has jus snapped and told me that despite the fact he has done most of the 'work'today...he built a BBQ which took over 3 hours, he can't believe that I'm getting grumpy because I'm tired. He said that he doesn't mind doing most of the 'work' (said many times in a few seconds rant) but that I need to control my grumpiness.
My problem is that I am a tired person and that makes me easily snappy and grumpy. Do I need to get help or ask him to be more supportive?
For the record....I was cooking, looking after kids and tidying up while he was building His new toy!!
Help please

Being snappy and grumpy is perhaps understandable some of the time. But hiding behind "tired" as an excuse to behave badly isn't great. But that sounds applicable to him as much as you. A rant is ridiculous, it's hardly going to get a situation sorted.
3 hours to build a bbq? Is it literally built, a brick one perhaps?
3 hours with children surely that's a normal day too though?
There's more raised by this. It sounds as though there's too much underlying stress or resentment for both of you.

Nah, he was having undisturbed time to himself and i bet he enjoyed every minute of those 3 hours (btw, what is the barbeque that takes 3 hrs to put together? He was stringing it out i bet!)

He needs to support you. Or in the future, let him assemble things whilst he's looking after kids.

I'm very grumpy when tired. Grumpy and zero tolerance for selfishness. I reckon thats the case with you too.

If you recognise you're getting grouchy, take yourself off to bed. Don't take it out on your husband.

I have to say, I hate it when grown adults don't admit to being tired and insist on staying up in a foul mood. Go and get some sleep!

What do you mean by grumpy?

Would you be happy to be spoken to in the way that you speak to him?

Love the suggestion of 'take yourself off to bed'... oh wait, she has the kids to look after...

And a husband who can look after them, no?

Or, if she has to be up to look after DC, she still doesn't have to take her grumpiness out on anyone else!

Nah, he took 3 hours to put together a barbeque. Undisturbed. And he claims he's doing 'all the work'. He's taking the piss. Do you really think he wants to look after kids whilst OP rests?

Not ok to be grumpy even if you're tired. I wouldn't accept that from DH.
