Just that really, there's a lot out there!

Where did you find yours?

I just searched online for local ones and found a great guy who was with me on the day for 12 hours and only charged £500.

Google. Where in the country are you? People might be able to recommend someone.

Google searched for 'wedding photographer location'. Looked through loads - most local people had a similar price range. Most had lots of pics on their website. Picked the one whose photography style fitted with what I wanted - lots of natural rather than staged photos. Met him and got on really well. He showed us some examples of the photo books etc he had done before. Was really pleased with the photos we got.

Unless you are doing things on v short notice then I think lots of research is the way to go.

I had friends that had used him and remember him and how funny and at ease he made everyone feel on the day, it really helped to capture those spontaneous moments rather than lots of staged photos. He felt like he was one of the guests so everyone forgot he was taking pics, which meant what got some great one that really captured our day.

I googled photographers who had photographed the venue where we got married (not the reception venue so not a recommended supplier)as I wanted someone who knew how to photograph well in the particular church etc. Found a relatively new photographer who was bloody awesome :)

My husbands very close friend did ours. Free of charge, as our wedding present.

Had a friend that used him and his price structure was really competitive (i.e. All photos were ours, no purchasing individual photos from 'galleries').

He was also super handsome (just saying).

Are you in East Anglia/East Midlands/the South east? If so I'll give you his details.

We looked on the Facebook page of the venue to see photographers that had done the venue before. It was important to us that they had experience of the place to get the best shots. Smile

Google here. And he was a total bargain. Less than £400 IIRC, which included staying for the first dance / cake-cutting.

We asked the venue for their preferred photographers, he is one of them. Though we since changed venue so he's getting somewhere new! His work is fantastic too, if you're Devon/Somerset I can recommend him.

Try the Association of Wedding Photojournalists if you are looking for reportage style.

recommended by the event co-ordinator at the venue we hired - the photographers(husband and wife team) were one of the best investments we made in the wedding!! We still keep in touch till this day.

The yellow pages. I got married pre internet.

I picked the cheapest one that would agree to give me all the photographs on a disc. We weren't going to have a photographer at all but everyone said we'd regret it, ten years later and we still haven't printed any out!

Instagram, recommendations from friends? Your venue might have a recommended supplier list? I wouldn't just google, we tried that and found some rubbish ones who had paid to be on the front page.

A website called Bidvine - you answer a series of questions about time, budget, etc., then local photographers will make a bid to you.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. My husband is a wedding photographer and we're just trying to work out where is best to spend our money marketing wise!

I found ours on google too. Just attempting the seemingly impossible task of getting on page 1! Do people look at page 2? (We're at the top of page 2😂)

Found mine on a local Facebook wedding group. But also found other ones I liked on an advert on the side bar of a wedding blog I read. Good luck!

Mum's friend's daughter recommended hers. This was back in the day when they used actual film. 2 1/4" format, three rolls, 12 pictures to a roll. No room for error and we didn't see any wedding pictures until over a week after the wedding!
