AIBU?

To think HQ are unreasonable for deleting a thread when I'm half way through reading it?!

Tut. I've got a nice cup of tea and my breakfast and I'm reading away and then... it's gone. So annoying!

It doesn't happen if you click to see all posts. The deletion only affects you reading the thread when you reload, surely.

Alter your settings so that all posts appear on one page. Then you will never know the pain of a thread disappearing in a puff of smoke before you reach the end.

Where do I do that, squoosh?

I read on my phone so I dunno. I click on to the next page and there's that pesky deletion message. Will I ever know if snow white cake maker was genuine?!

Yeah I was reading that one too. Even though it wasn't genuine I would've liked to still read it.

Yanbu OP, it'd be much better if MN could just lock the thread so no-one can post anything new but still keep it where we can read. Or maybe highlight the thread in some way to let people know 'this thread has been locked as OP is a troll/PBP'

I hate this so much. If I sit down for a long read and think the thread might possibly poof, I actually (and this is embarrassing to admit Blush ) get each page of it up separately before I start reading, and just click the ones I have read off. So I end up with like 20 tabs open but don't lose the thread after 2 pages

But this would be easier..I didn't know you could do this

Another one wishing they could be locked rather than deleted(unless OP has asked for it to be deleted as it's outing or something like that). I get too invested and want to know how it ended..

Where is settings?

If you click on 'customise' up there ^^ under the Talk heading at the top left of the page you should then be able to set it so you can see 1000 posts per page.

PortableVirgin · 11/05/2017 13:58

Thanks, squoosh - have just done that, but it's only giving me the option of 100 posts per page, though..?

I think you have to have joined mumsnet before a certain time to have the 'all posts on one thread option'.

Just checked, most I can do is 100 per page

When you have a long thread open you should be able to see an option of "see 1000 posts", or something, under the same menu as Customise.

Are you on the app or a browser?

It happens to me so often. I save a thread to read during a break and when I come to read it, it vanishes. So frustrating.

On the other hand MNHQ have to moderate the forum. I'm going ti try some of the suggestions here to avoid it in the future.

I love a cake thread! I read all bloody 40 pages, it was one of the best threads ever, even if it wasn't real!
I would also love to see the threads locked and sent to troll corner. Which should only accessible to people who have been members for a certain length of time AND have over a certain amount of posts.

I'm LOVING the idea of a "troll corner" ☺.

I have all posts rather than pages, set up like that from the beginning. I didn't know newer mn-ers couldn't view like that.

Troll corner is an excellent idea.
