AIBU?

Why do stag do's get so messy?!

Aibu to be pissed off at DP for not coming home from his stag do until 4pm the following day?! He stayed at his best mates house last night which was prearranged but heard nothing from him all night or all day today until he swans through the door and has gone straight upstairs to bed again.

My 3 brothers were out with him last night and I've just seen one of their Snapchats with videos from last night. My DP was rolling around on the pavement after falling over drunk, singing and swearing and shouting and pissing up against the city walls. It's really cringey that he got in that state. He fell asleep in a strip club and didn't get back to his friends house until gone 4am. I just..deary me. Why is this normal stag do behaviour? He could barely stand by the end of the night. He has never got that drunk before.

It's my hen do next week and I will be out drinking in the evening part. But I won't be arse over tit! My friends wouldn't let me get that wasted. Why do men think it's funny to get their friends to drink that much?

Blokes tend to seem to try and outdrink each other. No doubt they will have done the 'yard of ale' thing to show off and stuff. Its not just stag dos from my experience, its any 'boys night out'. I have told Dh a few times that if hes out with the lads just stay out...don't care where he sleeps, just don't come home. As you can guarantee he will be ridiculously pissed and likely throw up everywhere.

I've been on more stag do's than hens. The one time I' e had to help someone up from a pavement was a hammered bride to be who's temporarily lost the use of her legs. But the peeing up walls, that's men only. The upshot is, I think it's down to the individuals and not the entire sex.

Ha. I threw up in the street on my hen do Blush DH was merry but in a respectable state on his stag do.

Because men are gross. End of. And the ones that aren't are really, they're just putting on an act.

Jesus it'sjustaphase2016 that's a bit judgemental. Imagine if someone said on here 'all women are gross, the one's pretending not to be are lying'?

The traditional idea of a stag do is that it's a bloke's last night of freedom without his wife putting him on the naughty step for getting wasted and generally acting silly with his mates. You seem to be missing this point.

DPs nights out don't usually end that way. He can drink a lot but never to that extreme. He said there's about 2 hours of the night he can't remember at all. And he always remembers every detail of a night out. He had 7 shots of tequila! Plus double vodka and energy drinks all night. I'm amazed he's still alive after all that. But then again I'm a lightweight so perhaps that's perfectly doable on a night out.

That's nice joey but I let him go out whenever he wants. Why should that change when you get married? I don't tell him off for getting drunk with his mates cos he doesn't usually roll around on the pavement and scream at strangers like he did last night.

It's a one off. Chill.

That doesn't actually sound that much to me..for a proper getting slaughtered night anyways. Unless you mean like 20 double vodkas Grin

Last time I got really drunk I had about 20 shots and was drinking various cocktails and malibu too. I haven't actually drank since that night, such was my hangover and judging myself for being stupid...

My husband wasn't too bad for his own (surprisingly enough), but he's been in a terrible state from some of his friend's stags in the past. I had to drive to collect him once.

He's come back with his clothes in an absolute state, he's bruised and cut himself, came back with a tattoo once, and the list could just go on.

We have an agreement now that he has to call and then text me with updates at certain times through out the period of the stag do.

I have never been so drunk in my life as I was at my hen do!

You haven't really grasped the principles behind a stag do have you OP.

I would let it go.

I was hammered on my hen and had to have help getting home - it's not just men.

I think the alcohol mixed with the high of having all my favourite people with me tipped me over the edge.

It's a stag do that's what supposed to happen!

What rubbish!

OP there are a fair number of women who get into that state on a hen do. It isn't just stag do.

And this is why stag dos should never be filmed. It's a massive blow night / day for a lot of men. I know of one which was teetotal, but still very silly behaviour. They loved it.

I'm expecting my DP to be very hungover indeed, and possibly not to see him until the following night. Beer trail. He's not to call me, I don't want the midnight slurring nonsensical phonecalls!

It's up to them what they do.

7 shots is not that much on that sort of night out (not every night obv)

I did 18 vodka and limes on my 18th birthday.

I couldn't do it now mind

Have been on some pretty messy hen nights so not just stag nights.

What happened to the mantra 'what happens on tour, stays on tour'? I would hate to see the recordings of some of the hen nights I have been to.

On my friend's stag do they got so drunk they tried to tie him to the back of a boat on the canal and sail away (because yeah... Hmm). It was only two 'designated drivers' (non drinkers in the party) that basically saved his life. He was so drunk he couldn't walk let alone swim, so they kidnapped him and snuck him back to his hotel before he was accidentally bumped off.

It's something about it that just escalates their normally stupid behaviour to downright dangerous.

He's suffering enough with his hangover so I'm letting it go. Oh yeh he did have about 20 doubles/triples/quadruple vodkas with those shots and some weird concoction of alcohol from an opposing stag party who's stag had gone home early. I was more annoyed that he hadn't been in contact at all the following day but as he pointed out, he was wayyy too drunk to let me know he got home safe and would not stir from his sleep until around 3:30pm today. Poor git has a 12 hour night shift tonight too. As do his drinking buddies from last night. God help them all!!
