Sleeping habits of a 3.7 year old

My four year old has only slept solidly through the night on a handful of occassions, it averages three winey rousings that can be shushed and maybe a few getting out of bed to come into another bed. For sanity either me or my partner sleep on a spare bed In with him to do the shushing and putting him back to bed. That way one of us gets a good nights sleep. We thought this would be a short term arrangement but it's gone on for over a year, asking on here as we are too embarrassed to ask anyone in real life.... Anyone got similar shenanigans going on in their house any advise? ( there were some breathing/ snoring issues resolved with tonsil removed )

Goes to sleep fantastically after two stories kisses cuddles and one of us getting into the spare bed in same room. No drama at all, it all started when he stopped allowing us to leave room and ran out crying ( having previously been happy to be left). So as a ( what we thought was a one night solution) we lay in spare bed and pretended we were all going to bed, now we have to sleep in otherwise he come crying in to our bedroom

My Ds is 3.9 and we're the same maybe slept through 10 times total. Goes to sleep at 7.30 after a story little chat about our day sit with him for 5 mins and he goes to sleep and aware we leave him to sleep in our bed. He then wakes at some point during the night and screams for us and we either get him back to sleep in his own bed sometimes 2 or 3 times. If it's daylight he comes in out bed so we can hopefully get an extra hour. He won't get out of bed as he says he is scared despite landing light etc being on. Is often scared during the day of things though I.e won't go upstairs and his own, to the toilet etc so I think this is his issue. What's your DS like during the day? Is he clingy? I know this post may not be useful but I just wanted you to know you aren't alone.
